(No Buy, Sell, Trade Posts) Nike Golf Burlington, Ross and TJ Maxx Finds (MERGED)

Oh, ok well whatever it is if I can find them I'll buy them. Sorry I'm not a 3 stripe guy normally

I was actually disappointed it wasn’t primeknit. Primeknit is like Nike flyknit but a little softer. For golf shoes both of these materials would not be good because neither are waterproof or provide support or structure. They are both majorly comfortable tho.

I'm gonna argue that one. Flyknit may not be for everyone in golf, but they could make it work for many. If you aren't super aggressive with foot movement there isn't a huge need for a stiffer material. I'd even argue that the lack of flexibility is a bad thing for a lot of people with limiting ability to easily transfer weight across your foot during the swing.

I routinely practice in Free Run Flyknit 4.0 and I wish this would be the upper they used for the TW15 and a bit more flexible midsole. They'd need to tweak the mid/outsole for grass traction, but it would be an amazing comfort shoe.

Not for everyone, but as a casual/walking shoe, they'd be amazing.

I have the fly knit elites, and they are pretty awesome. Super hard to get on lol, but they are very stable

I'm purposely avoiding Ross and BCF so I don't buy any more. Finally sold off a good amount of my hoarded golf shoes and I still have too much. I have an issue with sneakers already, can't compound with golf shoes also haha.

No worries. There aren't golf shoes in Ross or bcf this year. The surplus ended when Nike got out of the equipment business.

But they’re still making shoes.

I'm thinking maybe just not as many. Most of the stock we've seen plentiful supply of were the last few years before their hard goods stopped.

The bcf/Ross deals were only big the past two years, it's not like it was an annual thing for the duration of Nike's time in hard goods.

Right. That's not what I was saying. The liquidation seemed to align with their hard goods departure. They dumped a lot of inventory expecting a slow down in sales after they quit making hardware. At least that's my theory.

My theory is that all of the surplus of shoes happened when Sports Authority went under. The year they went under there was a flood of the previous years shoes, but the current years shoes were not on the shelves until the following year. That's why there were two years of surplus. I imagine Nike wouldn't allow the liquidation of their "current" model shoe at a discounted rate. So burlington/ross had to hold on to them until the next year. I could be wrong but it seems like the timeline fits and would be an easy explanation for why there was such an excess. Either way, it looks like the deals are done...

Ok so my question to your theory would be, how do you explain the TW17 and TW71s that are being found or even the Under Armour golf shoes? Those shoes never reached a sports authority store as they came out after sports authority closed! Nike is like any other BIG retail business, sell off old stock at a discount to resellers at a discount to make money and clear inventory. They don’t need money per say, but just moving old stock that otherwise wouldn’t sell is a better option.

My opinion only.

Could be the fact that they still get old stock. Just not as much since Nike doesn't have to plan on stocking a national chain like Sports Authority only to have them close. It kind of makes sense since we haven't really seen this in the past. Not sure we will ever know though. Just have to enjoy it while it lasts.

That’s what you guys aren’t getting. They are still out there and keep popping up in stores. Just because you aren’t seeing them doesn’t mean there aren’t a ton of models out there and more arriving all the time. And as I said some models were too new to ever see those stores that closed, so they are getting those models from somewhere and the guess is Nike. They attempt to sell on their site on sales and after stuff doesn’t move, they dump them off to ROSS, Burlington, etc for them to sell.

I don't know that we are talking about the same thing here. Yes, you are seeing some shoes out in the wild. But, the last two years have seen most stores absolutely stock piled on different models, while this year the majority of stores have had absolutely nothing. I would hardly say that 1 or 2 pairs here or there even comes close to what we have been seeing.

I am also not saying that these came from Sports Authority. But, I can see Nike having a stock of shoes and clothes ear marked for Sports Authority. After they go out of business, Nike has to do something with their inventory. And in turn, they would have had more stock for Ross/BCF.

what's really interesting to me is that last year there were models that were at BCF while the same model was still listed on NDC - some were still at full price. Ross and BCF, I'd guess, get inventory from all over - they just got a bunch from Nike at some point.

We will not see equipment/gloves/bags/shoes like we did in the last two years. End of story. Will shoes/shirts/pants show up? Of course, just not in the same numbers and some things may not show up at all, and some stores may get 0.
