FJ Pro SL

Recommended Posts

I bought my first pair about 6 months ago in a 10.5 regular. They felt narrow and I don't have wide feet, but after 4 or 5 rounds they have broken in nicely and are super comfortable to walk 18 in. I just recently bought a second pair, but this time I went with a size 10w. I think I like the fit a little better with the wide... still have to break them in like the first pair but I have no complaints so far with either. I bought the previous generation now that they new ones are out and got them for $129.99. The SLs are a quality shoe, glad I finally found something I like everything about.

I own a pair from last year and the most recent ones. Aside from the design change, the insert is much softer. That was my only grip about the shoe is that it wasn't as comfortable as my ECCO's were (but the Ecco leather stains like a mofo, even with the conditioner/spray).

I didn't like the look of the white and silver in person so I went with the red, white, and blue. I'm now just waiting for the black to come out without the BOA (never liked that) and I'll be all set.

You think the boa prices are expensive, look at the laughable prices they are charging for the 1857 collection: https://www.fj1857.com/welcome

So stupid.

the clothing line and shoes look awesome, just very expensive.

LOL - $750 shoes?!? $350 sweaters?!? $75 for a glove?!? This can't be a real website. Can't be.

It can! For some people that's pocket change. :-)

I have the new SL's and they are too noisy! I think it is the non leather tongue rubbing the leather liner, but whatever, they are embarrassingly noisy. Like, I can't move or concentrate on the putting green noisy. I wonder if FJ would take them back,, ? ,, because they are unwearable....

Huh? Embarrassingly noisy? On the green? That's a new one to me, lol...

I own two pairs and they are fine.

Yes,, left one is the worst of the 2. It is usually quiet on the green, so.. Imagine standing over a put getting your feet set and all you hear is an old screen door opening and closing. bout the closest sound I can think of.. Or that Spongebob squeaky boot episode..

I had the previous version. and they made squishing noises when you walked which was pretty annoying. The problem was the insoles sliding around.

From time to time, depending on weather conditions, ie. humidity, heat, etc... I'll have to spritz the inside of my golf shoes (Pro SL, Boas, Icons) with baby powder. I'll remove the insole, shake some in, and spread it around. IMMEDIATELY quiets the shoes for some time. I've had to do so with athletic shoes too.

I just picked up 2 pairs of the original SL pro in white and silver. I was really surprised the size 12 XW fit just like a Nike 13. I've always been a Nike golf shoe guy but you can never have to many spikeless golf shoes. With as many guys on tour wearing this model surely they have to be a good shoe.

I set up myself with a few pairs for next season. The 18 models are super cheap right now and I think they look better.

My favorite shoe. Checks all the boxes for a spikeless shoe. I do wish they had a version with removable spikes. Rotating 4 pairs the last 12-15 months, my rear spikes on all 4 are completely worn down. That said, I like buying new shoes so the spikes wearing down give me a good excuse :)

This is why I will not buy spikeless shoes. Rotating four pair over 12 to 15 months and having the spikes wear out is poor. Effectively that’s like having one pair wear out in 3 or 4 months. Planned obsolescence by Footjoy.

And old trick I learned years ago was to sprinkle some talcum powder in the shoes. Be sure to take out the footbeds and sprinkle under there too. Be generous sprinkling it on. Wear the shoes for an hour or so (or for a round) and knock out any residual powder. Gets rid of the squeaks. Additionally you can also take out all the spikes (where applicable) and spray a little Armor All (or equivalent) on the receptacles and part of spike that meets base and that gets rid of any squeaks there too. Stealth shoes thereafter.
