Best Value Hybrid/Utility Iron

Finding a reliable 220-250 club has been a battle for me since I have ditched the 2 and 3 irons years ago so I pretty much carry more wedges now but am still toying around with hybrids/driving irons in an effort to find a club to cover this yardage.... what are your favorite clubs that you have played or are playing in the Hybrid or Utility Iron field? Right now I'm playing an old Cobra Multi-Metal that feels decent but performance isn't great, I think I need to try a shaft swap in it before I'm ready to write it off but i'm always open for suggestions on clubs to try.

 

I have never been a 5-Wood player due to that I like to use this club off the tee on tight holes and 5-woods I have never really hit well off the tee. As you can tell by my set makeup, suggestions don't need to be the latest and greatest so any suggestions of past or present club heads people have played and liked would be appreciated. I'm a mid single digit handicap so forgiveness is not a high priority as much as feel and performance when struck properly...... Photo's also welcomed.

Callaway Apex is a nice “player’s” hybrid. I got a “like new” one from Callaway Preowned during the last eBay 15% sitewide sale for $60. It looks like the prices have gone up a little since then.

For value I’d think it’s hard to beat the Ben Hogan Utility at $95.00 I have the Hogan and a Callaway Apex UT both bent to 18* and they are both great hard to pick which I like better

I play a Srixon H45 4 hybrid and have the 3 hybrid that I sometimes swap in for my Heavenwood. I can't think of a single fault with these things, and you can find them on eBay for super cheap. I got one of them for under $40.

Any of the Cobra MyFly8 adapter models (Bio Cell, Fly-Z, F6, F7, F8). With the loft adjustability and ease of changing shafts, you should be able to dial in whatever distance and ballflight you're looking for. You can find them in the $30 range fairly regularly.

 

Diamond Tour also has the Bio Cell component heads dirt cheap. (for instance, RH 3h/4h head in Blue for $14.99)

I'd also consider the F6 Baffler if you want to try something that's between hybrid and fairway in size, shape, and playability.

 

Also, I like the Adams Dhy and Pro Mini. They both have a more iron-like feel, but the performance and feel are solid.

Another vote here for Srixon H45's. Best hybrids I've ever hit.

Hybrid wise I love my 2015 Adam's Red 18*. Slim look and just performs really well for me. Launches high and is just easy to hit. It just suits my eye and feels nice.

 

Driving iron wise I have thought the titleist Tmb can be great although it's currently not in my bag. I just feel the hybrid is more versatile.

If you are looking for something in between a driving iron and a hybrid the Adams Dhy is a great option.

Picked up a nos ping g30 hybrid last weekend off the shelf at local golf shop, hit it great yesterday. 80 bucks new with headcover. Nice simple look at address, stock shaft, thing works great. I gamed a used cobra baffler hybrid all season and once I knew I got on well with a hybrid I started looking to upgrade and found this ping for a great deal so scooped it. Check some local shops see whats still on the shelf from a couple years past.

Adams Pro Mini in 20 degree is awesome. Only bad toe shots are punished for me and can de loft it to get a bullet that runs out for miles
