The vast majority of putters I've seen done are graphite black, stealth grey, and whatever the matte black color is called.

 

I ended up with socom blue, which by all accounts is a really deep blue/black color. Interested to get it in hand later this week for sure.

 

I've got a matte black putter shaft, and a fresh stock grip (PP60, I think it's called) to build it up with.

 

With as many CSPPs as I've been hitting with the slant neck Tyne, and as much as I'm enjoying that, I'm worried about the FrankenTyne's chances of ever breaking into the rotation.

Since 2010, I've had three. The current one is a slight revision on the second one and I still have the first one as a backup.

I do not have you beat. Maybe 10 putters since then.

 

I'm going on the record right now that I'm going to play the Bobby Grace for years. I'm going to have more to say on this putter when I actually put it in play during handicap season and all of a sudden I'm a +3.

My best guess is that I've owned three putters in my life. Roughly....

 

1999 - 2006 - A Knight (i think?) putter that came with the lady's set my mom bought me.

2007-2010 - An Odyssey White Hot #1

2011-present - Scotty Cameron Newport 2 that a friend bought me for some reason.

I've had 3 putters.

 

I have an Arnold Palmer "The Original" that I started with and still have. Used it for many, many years until 2010 when I bought a Scotty Newport 2. Used that until mid 2017 when I got an itch and bought an Odyssey White Hot RX #2 putter. Worst. Mistake. Ever. I banned that stick last May when I got fed up with it.

 

Now I'm back to my Scotty and have no desire to switch.

I have my eye on the newer Spider X. Now that Golf Galaxy closed though, I need a new place to get some practice cuts with practice putters. DSG is alright, but doesn't have the same level of stock.

 

I probably won't get one just because it involves shelling out $350 for what amounts to a side-step in putters.

Since the early 90's, 1 putter, an Odyssey Dual Force Rossie I.

 

My previous putter is a Wilson TPA-4 that I picked up in the used bin when I first started playing golf. It's sitting there at our family room practice green. My son has taken a liking to it. He might actually use it.

Spider X looks sweet, but for copper paint that is a pretty steep asking price compared to other putters. I wouldn't buy one unless Discount Dan's gave some sort of ridiculous deal.

I have a 2010 honey dipped Scotty Cameron. The Hollywood model. Love it, but have been irrationally tempted by the mallet craze.

I had a couple rental sets where I got to try a scotty square back (liked it) and the Sully spider (DID NOT ENJOY) however I'm good with the er2.

 

Bandondunes also has the er2 and he putts like 2005 masters runner-up Chris DiMarco. So, you know, slightly better than mediocre.

 

Got back out to the range for an awesome 2 hours earlier. Hoop and I are playing a lot of golf in Wisconsin in May and wanted to try and practice hitting balls whole tired. Got to a pretty good place grooving the "tired" swing.

Strengthen the grip a little, swing smooth, and focus on posture. All good, son.

 

Then went back to the short game area. Hadn't really hit a lot of bunker shots with the 58 k-grind, but found that there is no need to open the face. Bounce is already exposed when it's set up square. It's basically one of those Sure-out wedges. Stepped on a few balls to practice plugged lies. No issues getting out of the bunker. Happy to have worked that out.

 

Playing off-site tomorrow at some clubcorp course before flying back with a sick farmer's tan.

I watched 2005 highlights today and DiMarco burned a lot of edges early, and burned the edge on chip ins twice on 18. They were good putts from distance. He could have won that running away.

 

DiMarco was really good in 04/05/06. He could have had multiple majors but ended up with zero wins in that stretch.

DiMarco burned even more edges in the 2005 Masters than PQ does in an average round. That’s a lot of edges. Count em up.

Now that I think of it, I had the original Monza Spider when it came out. That thing was HIDEOUS but put a great roll on the ball.

 

My brother had a Nubbins for about 10 years until the nubs wore down. He got one of those ghost putters that looked just like it.

 

Other side of the bag is the opposite, I never bothered to count how many drivers I've owned in that time period.

I've owned many putters, drivers, and every other club in that time stretch. I ho less than some, and more than others. It is what it is.

At the end of last year, I had 5 putters in the trunk and would go eenie, meenie, minie, mo to pick which one to use. None worked :(
