Kent is mid 60s and he smokes.

He used to run a 10.7 hundred and played football and it oozes off him and women can still sense it.

And, his ol' lady looks like Angelina Jolie.

And none of that is exaggeration.

CBS cut off coverage so they could go to their Saturday 6:30pm news cast? What?

They were supposed to cut out at 6p but stayed through 630p before cutting over to the Golf Channel.

I feel like this happens...basically every other weekend.

But then the golf channel wasn't showing the event. They just had the post event commentary.

I switched over and they cut into Matt Ginnellas thing to show play until Phil was finished - which is I think exactly what they were going to do.

Att is usually not a good event to watch.

You know what was cool this weekend and I wished I watched more of it was the isps / Vic open.

It was women and men on the same course playing interspersed from different tees.

So, you basically got to see the women hitting the same (or similar) approaches and putts as the men.

Cool course too. Real links looking thing in Australia. The greens had all these contours that would send balls away if you were coming in from the wrong angle. Some huge shelves and slopes in some greens.

The guy who won was 3 back on the 16th tee. He made an eagle on the 18th hole to win by 1.

The course is called Barwon Heads and is considered the best links course in Australia and is the top rated public course in the country.

“ How to turn a quick nine holes into a five mile hike” - city, 3moreCalls

So yesterday me and City end up playing a quick nine at fairways hills. First step to walking five miles in nine holes is to play fairway hills and particularly the back nine. The walk between 15 and 16 is forever. So we get through the first eight holes and all is normal. The lady had mentioned something about a bridge being out on 18 and I took it to mean we had to walk longer to get to the 18th tee. Well that’s clearly not the case. So we tee off on 18 (I liked mine. City called his a son in law shot. “Not what you wanted but you’ll take it”. Lol #cityjokes). Well then we walk to the bridge that’s out. And it’s not just a little stream. The water is several feet deep. So now I’m thinking we need to walk alllllll the way back down 16 tee, use that bridge, and then walk back to the clubhouse. Brutal. Wellll. There’s a path with lots of tire marks on it. Maybe it’s a temporary cart path. Maybe there is a crossing before 16 tee. So we take the path. We walked like 1/3 of a mile through marsh, over tiny streams, etc. Basically hiking with push carts. And we still had to take it back to the 16th tee. City at one point stepped in mud/water that went over his ankle. NOT happy. I gave him an extra pair of socks for his ride home. Once we got back over the bridge I suggested we play 8 and 9 into the clubhouse. I decided to skip my workout when I got home. The end.

Tomorrow is a huge day in the pool for me. These are what really matters. The difference between a win, and T2 and a T10 is like 500k and 500k. Come on Phil.

I took Phil too and almost no one else in my pool did. @ 100 people too Jason Day though so Phil putting distance between him and Day was huge.

Club Champion is running commercials during the coverage for their new location in Fairfax.

The on-screen print says its next to the "Farfax" Racquet Club. Yikes. If you're going to run commercials during the golf coverage, maybe proofread them before they run lol.

Used to work at the 2nd Swing in the Kentlands. Hope they figured out their business model from the last time. I liked that shop but there wasn’t enough good inventory to keep it going. Fun side gig though.

Saturday at least was nice to get out. I was hitting some balls at TV (closed but range was open) (it was cold) and had just ordered nachos when 2More's text came in. He was in a little hurry, but he accepted that nachos were not a great "get in your car food" and waited for me. The nachos were actually 3 nachos. each nacho had a slab of brisket of it with a cheesy type sauce. It was good.

I've played Fairway hills, once?, maybe. I barely remembered it.

The transfer from 15 green to 16 tee is roughly 700 yards (below in blue). When we realized the full implications of the bridge being out on 18, 2More was like, "she said you had to go back by 16" but it looked like there was a little path through the woods.

There was THE BEGINNING of a little path through the woods. After that, we were four-wheeling and yeah, I went up over my ankle in mud. Not fun.

I don't know what she knew, but if you walked back up 16, then I guess back up 11, across the driving range, and out to the 18th fairway, you would have walked a MILE. As it was, we walked about a half mile and jumped back on 8.

15 to 16 transfer is in blue. 18 to 8 is in white.

That looks like a funky layout on the last few holes, the 15>16 transfer just looks soul crushing. Although it comes pretty late in the round I guess, but then you have that weird backtrack to 17 tee too.

exactly. that backtrack is annoying. entire length of the hole.

The fairways, however, are bermuda and were as thick and full (tho dormant) as they ever were at Hobbits.

For covering about 50 square miles, it's kind of a "close" feeling course. There are small doglegs. The holes feel forced into whatever spaces they could find between houses. There's marshland very near to some of the greens and marshland cuts into some of the fairways. I suspect it was designed with a lot of restrictions on the amount of "environmental areas" they had to have. those are always the worst.

I can't tell you the name of the resort where I'm currently attending a conference because the mods will delete the post. It's in Florida. It has the blue monster.

However, I have a room in the "Tiger Woods Villa". There are 5 framed pictures of Tiger Woods on the walls in my room, including this watchful print that makes me feel safe during a particularly vulnerable time in all our lives.

I need to find a partner for the inevitable $2 Nassau for the "Aiyyer/TheButteryCut/CJ/OCGolfRick we're dumb enough to walk Tobacco Road" match. Let's take a look at City's handy-dandy handicap chart, seeing as I'll need a low cap as I'll be out of a few somehalf most of the golf holes for the match. Ahh, I see just the guy to lobby for!

16, from the back tee, is a tough hole.

The back 9 there is actually pretty fun overall. It's way better than the front 9, IMO.

Meh.

10 has a nice shape.

17 is a good 1 banger. The long 3 (14?) back there is good, but I don't like that the front left is just trash (btw, that hole was playing about 205. 2More hit his FabbFranken5 right over the pin and just over the green. I hit the SullySevenWood to about 25 feet. I actually really like that 7 wood and it might be replacing my hybrid. 1-4-7 woods is a nice top.)

But all the rest of the 4's (and the par 5 15th) are just straight, flat holes with nothing of interest. Except 18, which is decent.

I should've qualified with "for a cheap round, close to home" on there.

And definitely compared to the front 9. If you think the back is weird, and crammed in where they had space, you should see the front.
