Center shafted putter options

I’ve always had a certain affinity for center shafted putters, and I’m not sure why. I have my eye on a few currently, but wondering if anyone had any other suggestions for a center shafted face balanced putter.

As of right now I have the odyssey exo 7cs, Ping Kinloch and kushin c, evnroll er2cs and the Cameron futura 5s on my radar.

I feel like SeeMore should always get mentioned in these threads. A small company almost completely devoted to center shafted putters. Good people, good service and great putters! They will go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for and set it up just right for you. They have several models that are completely face balanced.

Otherwise, If you can live with a little toe hang, the Odyssey #5 CS models are pretty nice. They have made this head in several of their lines that can be bought relatively cheap second hand. They also have the new V-Line CS in the Stroke Lab line, that is similar but slightly larger. If you want something even a little larger, the Nike Method Matter M5-10 is nice. It's a large and very stable head, but still looks somewhat discrete. Can also be found second hand (and maybe even new if you dig around a bit).

I’ve finally gone all CS in my putter stable:

Bettinardi iNOVAi 3.0

Bettinardi Kuchar 2HM

Piretti Teramo

SeeMore PTM3

Xenon Fatback

Yes! Pippi-12

Also owned SeeMore mFGP and SB-2, Odyssey WHP 7CS, and the 2012 Golo S.

I go back and forth on the toe hang issue, not really sure it matters for my stroke (LHL). Bettinardi CS putters historically have a bit more toe hang, the 2HM is about 30° but the iNOVAi is nearly face balanced. Most older Scotty’s (like the Golo S5 and Newport 2.6) will have some toe hang; more recent ones like Futura 5S are face balanced. My Piretti is face balanced, totally flat. The Yes! hangs at 45° like the Newport 2.6 or an FGP. Now, SeeMore calls their design face balanced at impact. Get on their website to learn more about what that means and the type of stroke they advocate to work best with their putters.

For me, the amount of shaft lean is more important than toe hang. Some just naturally want to line up the the hands ahead of the ball (Odyssey); others more above the ball (SeeMore).

I also prefer the feel of a deep milling, like Bettinardi‘s FIT Face. SeeMore and Piretti are firmer, the Odyssey was too rubbery. But the newer EXO and Toulon’s have a very nice feel. Newer Ping’s like the Kinloch feel weird to me, firm but...plasticky, like a TaylorMade.

Hope this helps, enjoy your search!

I've always been a center shaft fan as well and have either owned or tried just about all of them. My personal favorites are the Ping Piper C, Rife Barbados CS, Odyssey Versa 7CS, and of course my Scotty Golo S I always end up coming back to.

I've been rolling the Bettinardi Studio Stock 28 Center Shaft the past month or two. Some great results, some mediocre, but there's enough good there to keep me coming back instead of moving on. Picked it up completely on a whim after trying at the PGASS. Great feel, great balance, puts a great roll on the ball that comes out on line for me.
