Exactly my thoughts on the KK DC XT. This thing just flat out works for me and the feel is unmatched, so smooth yet stable.

But then I see something like rogue white and I wonder if I'm leaving something on the table. ugh.

JT- how have your former KK DC XT players fit into the rogue white? Success or vary a bit player to player?

P.S. It feels like just last year you posted the big bad low spin shaft thread that initially turned me on to the KKDC lol

It all depends on need really. However the fact that it's such a stable shaft without feeling brutally stuff in any way, all while supplying the low spin numbers makes it fit a lot of players. We did include the X vs TX at the 110 and 105 just to give people reference if they have hit the X. I figured that would be appreciated.

Could the Rogue White 130 MSI be described as the Aldila version of the Pro Orange V2 with upgraded materials? As I recall, PO V2 was billed as a counter balanced Pro Blue which fit quite a wide section of golfers in bend profile and mild CB that resulted in excellent launch, ball speed and spin.

I admittedly have not played a round of golf since thanksgiving day -- however -- on the range this past weekend and on course, i haven't hit a driver this straight in a very long time.

i missed 1 fairway during the round, b/c i drove it through the corner. there is one thing i have to note tho -- it was a blustery round and there were quite a few drives that again flew like trainsmoke -- but seemingly spun up a bit in the wind.

while a few apples does not a cider make -- it something i'll pay attention to.

JT, do you have any compares in dispersion between this and rogue white? It seems the major theme is ultra tight dispersion. I would be willing to give up 5-8 yards for tight dispersion. Also, it seems on the Aldila website the X has a fairly high torque. Is the torque not a factor anymore? I always thought dispersion was closely tied to torque.

Torque is really more a dynamic of feel these days. With modern exotic material products raising the torque value allows a very tip stiff shaft to not feel so harsh. In years past with just standard graphite shafts, companies would thicken the tip wall and lower the torque value in order to stiffen up the tip. With modern materials this is not as necessary.

As for dispersion, as long as we set up the face angle of the driver to not allow the ball to go too far in a certain direction, and you have a shaft profile that fits you in terms of Dynamics, feel, and weight, your dispersion should be solid. It's simply about delivering the head consistently to the ball.

Shes a beaut Clark, a beaut!

CNF3H11DYA51.jpgFor those wondering, I've put this to the test against my fujikura pro 2.0TS - I will post numbers and some thoughts after work. If anyone wants comparisons to the newer shafts, ask away- I've hit just about all of them.

In short for the time being - this is bar none the straightest shaft I've ever had the pleasure of swinging. It feels incredible too. Smoother than my pro 2.0TS.

well boys --- after having some time with this shaft, it has officially booted my tried/true/trusted fujikura pro 2.0TS out of the bag.

let me throw some numbers at you guys, then i'll get into what i've seen on course and what it's done for my game.

on the sim- my numbers with the shaft are similar-ish to the fuji pro 2.0TS BUT...the dispersion is what was eye popping for me. regardless of what i tried to do hitting a fade or draw -- it just goes straight. seriously, just straight ball flight. i can go up and down with ease...but its nothing but lasers and clothing lines.

Fuji pro 2.0TS averages: 174bs, 2231rpm, 11.8* launch, 1.44 smash

Aldila RIPx 65TX averages: 176bs, 1982rpm, 14.3* launch, 1.47 smash

BUT...my dispersion with the fuji was 28.6y wide, with the median being 5.6y left of center; the aldila was 17.2y wide and the median was 2' from center. that was astounding -- but i wasn't sure how it would translate to the course.

admittedly my first round i played with it was my first round since thanksgiving -- i still hit 11/14 fairways with this thing. my first thoughts were 'well, it certainly launches a bit higher' and it felt like it spun up a little bit into the wind (turns out it was actually just really breezy). today, i played the second round with it. on the holes i hit driver -- i missed just 2 fairways and spin was not an issue. into the wind i just hit teed a bit lower and it was money. downwind however, i had 204y out on a 548y par 5 -- only to air mail it with a 6i, but that's another story. my good friend kevin has been with me every time i've hit this shaft -- and he and i have played together for the last 4-5 years or so...he said it himself that he has never seen me or anyone else hit a ball this straight, as consistently as this beast.

now onto the feels b/c i know there's a lot of you wondering about the mamba tech and how it's translating to the rebar rumors. the only way i can describe this shaft is a mix of the following - aldila x-torsion black mamba/synergy black/accra tz6. there is no kick, no flicking through impact --- but it's also not rebar. a swing that has 110% effort comes off the same way and with the same feel that a shot at 80% effort feels -- smooth, controllable and you always know where the clubface is.

i sold my synergy black a long time ago and was honestly missing it...i tried the accra tz5 and tz6 but something about them just didn't jive with me...THIS shaft tho...has the positives of those two shafts and seemingly has them together.

it's not a low launching rebar, in fact, i'd put it in a very smooth feeling, powerful, mid launch, extremely low spin, pearl cannon.

ask away boys, i know some of you will have questions after this post...

I dunno, to me it feels tighter than the XT tho - for some reason the XT always felt like I'd get some shots that felt great and I'd look up and the flight was different than it felt if that makes sense.

  • 2 weeks later...

the rogue white imo has a bit lower launch but has a feeling of more kick than the RIPx. the rogue is also a bit more wild IMO as well. the RIPx has been nothing but straight for me.

I've been in talks with JT about my 3w -- as it is the club that is on the block this spring for changes...i didn't change it last season mostly b/c i rarely used it. i was either hitting driver, or my epic 3i (2i) off the tee.

i am currently looking at going to the SIM Ti 3w, paired with a RIPx 80TX. Due to the 'rona, Aldila is not up and running so getting one to me is going to take a bit.
