The Worthington email is so interesting to me. If they'd have been tipped off to the announcement prior to 3pm why send that email? All these weeks abiding and you show your a** a couple hours before you can open your business back up. Or it's just simply the worst timing ever.

At any rate, that place must be absolutely pristine this morning. Enjoy the afternoon tee times as I'm sure it will still be looking mighty fine. I've got a raincheck I need to use there this year.

I get the sense that the sudden loosening of restrictions came as a complete surprise. Frederick had previously announced that Clustered Spires would be closed until the end of the month. Yesterday they announced that "...the City of Frederick and Clustered Spires Golf Club are working towards reopening the golf course. When we have a reopening date, that will be provided." If they knew this was coming, they'd have been prepared. Other courses are accepting tee times, but not cash. You have to call and pay in advance.

Thank god for the MD opening. The inability to ever get an AM tee-time as only a small number of VA courses were open was getting frustrating. And I need to practice for my June golf trip (I am assuming it will happen for my own sanity)

I think word leaked out to some places. I had an email yesterday morning from a local course taking signups for a Wednesday league starting next week.

I played today for the first time since the shutdown. Restrictions were fairly minimal. There was a plexiglas panel installed in front of the cash register, and there were social distance marks on the floor in front. People wore masks in the clubhouse. Cups had liners that prevented balls from going all the way down. I didn't see any bunker rakes, but I wasn't in any bunkers so maybe they were there and I didn't see them. Beyond that, I didn't see much. No putting green restrictions. No changes on the range that I could see. They were even allowing people to ride two to a cart. Very pleasant day.

Course was OK. Surprised at how bad the greens were considering how long they have been closed. Not sure why they waited until seemingly yesterday to punch the greens. BUT - everything else was OK. No one made a close in putt all day - a few bombs run in but nothing that you needed to make.
Awesome to get out for the day with @aiyyer @eagle1997 and Dom. Just a really good thing for the mental health. Never had to come within ten feet of anyone all day. WM had their outside checkin setup and used your online credit card - could not have been easier. Never went in the clubhouse, three of us were wearing buffs on the range. Walked WM on the first day it was open in 4:20.

Got some range time in and was surprised to actually make some pretty solid swings. The grounds were clearly soaked from the Wednesday rain but CCMD looks so. damn. GREEN!

I also remembered quickly that green/budding flowers means allergies again. I need to up my Claritin and Flonase game.

Our course looked great yesterday. Still little holes on the greens. Fairways a little long. Rough VERY LONG.

I started out par-birdie-birdie and I was like WTF? Had a nice round going, then just fell to pieces on the back.

Funny. . .

Hole 5, 2MoreTerpz has to attend to something and he goes "can you bring my push cart up to the green" so I go yeah, and I'm pushing his cart and TVJ-2 walks over and goes, "now you both have covid."

Then, on hole 12, I mark 2MoreterpZ ball with my marker and knock his ball away. He goes to putt and goes, "I'm not touching your marker." OK.

Then, after 18, when it was time to pay City, I go, "paypal me". He goes, "I'm not paypalling you 11 bucks" (why not? Who knows? Ask 2moreTerpZ) and tries to give me cash. Problem : he's only got 50's. The juice is running. it's up to $11.02 right now. I've venmo'ed guys 50 cents.

We use Paypal/Venmo all the time now for weekend games. No idea why people wouldn't use it for even small amounts. Venmo is fee-free and Paypal friends/family is the same. Covid stuff aside, its just easier than having cash on hand. Who has change, oh I dont have change, oh I only have 50s. GTFO. Venmo could not be easier to use.

Like literally every single person I play with venmo's and paypals except 2MoreTerpZ.

He just got PayPal last year I think. He has an odd. . .reluctance, let's say. . .to much modern technology. I mostly appreciate that.

yeah i've thought about that cash vs. paypal thing. i'm making it a stipulation of all matches in advance. must be paid in cash. no cash no match. i played work golf last week we get on the first tee and one guy is like "yeah i knew i was playing with 2more so i had to go to the ATM this morning". i got paid in cash last wednesday and last friday.

 

city played really really well. and then didn't. i was really awful. and then mediocre. i'm not worried about my game though. it was so so so good to get out.

 

MCG practice areas aren't open so i can't go chip at lunch. that should be available starting wednesday.

You know that Paypal and Venmo are just cash...but on your phone right? I'm not 1000% sure but I THINK there is a way to get that money from your phone into your actual bank account. I'd have to double check though. But I'm pretty sure if someone Venmos you money, its not just locked inside your phone until the end of time.

But again I'm not entirely sure about that.

Get with the program on this one, 2More. You're literally making it harder on everyone for the sake of some arbitrary principal, and you're going to lose out on the ability to play matches if you do that. You're not losing a battle here.

Yesterday was awesome and hopefully a symbolic return to life and golf. Eagle screwed up and grabbed my wedge to hit but did sanitize it. All other Covid rules were followed.

Bandon Dunes was spectacularly and annoyingly solid as usual. Played with DC for the first time and yikes he hits it long. Much nicer guy in real life than on this thread - he’s chastised me for some posts. Eagle provided color and showed off his spectacular short and sand game. Llast seen trying to find a tree in the parking lot. Had a crappy front but two birdies and some pars on the back nine avoided embarrassment.

Without getting into excruciating altsean detail, Eagle and I came back from 4 down to win. Played for nothing.
