Knock off Golf Grips?

My Iron set has real MCCs on them and I wanted to match in my wedges but at 26 Aussie bucks per grip I decided to buy some 5 dollar knock offs MCCs from the local pro

Believe it or not but they feel just as good as the real MCCs.

So I was thinking about putting CP2s on all my clubs but obviously dont want to pay a couple hundred for real ones. Sadly the local pro does not have knock off CP2s

Has anybody ever bought knock off grips off wish . com as they have some on there for like 30 bucks for an entire set.

Yes I know they wont be as good but how bad are they? Considering the quality of the MCC knock off I can live with it if its "slightly worse"

The grip is so important. Buy high quality grips, which knock offs won't be.

I bought a set of Iomics which i thought were the real mccoy.

At first they looked good- couldn't tell the difference. They had a little bit of an oily odor. After gaming them for about 3 rounds the color started to rub onto my hands and glove.

They they started to disintegrate and become flaky.

Lesson learned- if the price is too good to be true, usually isn't.

My buddy bought some knockoff MCC's off eBay. They look almost indistinguishable, however they are noticeably undersized. First time I grabbed one of his clubs I knew they were fake. Just don't. Buy the real thing.

I bought some MCC +4's off of fleabay and I am pretty sure they are fake. They had a funny smell when I opened the package, the cost about $5.50 a grip and while they look almost identical if you hold one next to a real one you will notice slight variations. They seem to perform fine so far, I put them on over the winter....but it makes me mad that I was duped into buying a fake product. Lesson learned.

Yeah, I might have been duped this winter. I picked up some MCC Align from eBay. Seem alright, but I noticed the lower part is getting slick and hard earlier than normal. I'll keep them on until they get bad then replace them all. They did not have any different odor from normal MCC. They also had the wrappers on the ends. If they are fake, they are really good...lol.

In general, the smell of fake grips is a dead giveaway. You get what you pay for.

i got some +4 Align ND's off fleabay, like a couple of guys above said at $25 (here) each a pop for the real McCoy i thought these will do the trick for a bit less than a real one, i did check the sellers feedback so had a pretty good idea they were fugazis; i whack em on and they are most certainly not +4 and the align line was wonky and you could hardly feel it.

lesson learned, pulled them and had genuine ones put on.

They are very good fakes on the bay but still fakes. I fell pray to this before I realized this was a thing. For me the fakes wear ridiculously fast, so I hazard to guess the poor quality of the rubber is why they are so cheap.

I think it is wrong to buy fakes, you are fuelling a likely illegal at worst or at the very least unethical product.

Plus they are inferior quality.

What kinda shady pro is selling fake grips? I'd bring that up to someone.

 

But fake grips can look nice until you weigh them and see weight can be all over the place, have fun swing weighting your clubs btw, quality is awful on them, they'll fall apart half way through the season so you'll have to replace them way sooner and faster than actual grips.

There are companies like saplize and champkey that make mcc clones, but not knockoffs. I have seen decent reviews on their products in other forum posts online.

I will be getting a set of those soon as i am trying to switch to full cord or half cord grips soon.

Real on the right, fake on the left. Different font, and the “seam” is way more pronounced. Also the black paint is sloppy on the fake. Chalk it up to “too good of a price to be true”. Cut off all the fakes and put on some new MCCs tonight. Thanks WRX!

Your only connection to the club is through the grip so best to buy OEM grips and leave the fake grips to your fake PRO.

Friend of mine did the same thing and the knock offs lost their tack and dried out much more quickly than my authentic's.
