I guess what I meant to say was if I were to practice on beaters and somehow they turned out as amazing as I'm seeing here ,would that process devalue a hi end putter such as a Cameron.. ect...

 

Not only does it remove quite easily, it will protect your shaft from getting scratched or abraded.

 

You can remove this stuff cleanly in about 30 seconds.

I did this with a black oxide Cameron Circa#3. Did all black paint fill, Ping blackout grip. Complete stealth. Ball was in the cup before it knew it was hit.

Thanks for the suggestion. The only thing I didn't like with the tubing from Harbor Freight. The tubing has markings on the back..

I think I mentioned it previously in this thread, but I did this same thing to a Ping Ketch Heavy. Looks awesome with the Midnight SS grip on there too. I'm going to do the same thing to an Odyssey MXM #1W sometime in the near future. For anyone that doesn't have a heat gun, a gas stove works extremely well too, just don't hold it too close for obvious reasons. An electric one would probably work since all you need is heat to shrink the stuff.

No other reason then there are some dumb rules. I just did my first one a few days ago, can't believe how easy it is, and how good it looks. Thanks OP for the great idea!

I've had it on my putter and two wedges for a few seasons now.

 

It needs redone on the putter. The bottom end is starting to collapse like an old pair of socks.

 

Did you do the base of your putter? It looks like you did.

I did it, are you saying I did it wrong? If so, can you elaborate. I pulled the shaft, shrinked whole shaft, and re-installed.

Rereading my post, I can see it's confusing. I'm not saying you did it wrong at all.

It needs redone on MY putter as it's starting to come undone a tad near the hosel after many rounds.

 

Also, it looks like you did your putter head in the shrinkwrap...

Hate to bring up an old thread, but those of you who used the Harbor Freight stuff, what size did you use since they don't have 5/8"?

 

Has anyone used 1/2? or better yet, has anyone used dual wall stuff that shrinks at 4:1?

According to Golfworks the True Temper shaft butt diameter ranges from 0.580" to 0.602" which makes a perfect fit for the 5/8" (0.625) stuff on Ebay. The 1/2" (0.500) would be too small.

The next closest size up of the HF tubing is 3/4" (0.750). It shrinks more than enough to make a nice fit.

I did, on both my sand and lob wedge. No impact at all on wedge performance.

I played this past weekend and did notice the wrap was getting a little "tired" near the base of my putter. I think I'll hit it with a heat gun to try and freshen it up, and if that fails, I'm regripping before spring anyway, so I'll redo the entire shaft.

 

I think it has lasted at least 3 seasons though (I'm sure I posted earlier in this thread).

like your thinking! The tubing was very easy to install...looks great! Add black paint-fill, SS Skulls Flatso #1 and the old Whit Hot Tour #7h looks great! Glad I found this thread! Great idea!

Finally did a test run on a Ping eye2 LW. Came out great so I ordered up a new super stroke (that I'm going to dye like the one in this ad
