New Grips to Try

I have been laying the GP Multicompond decade grip for three years. Just want to try a new grip this year. Need some suggestions of grips and why you use them Thanks

Golf Pride Z Grip. Ultimate in feel, and the cord is ridiculous. Rips up hands and gloves, which I look for, haha! And they look sweet IMO. A little on the pricey side but they last at least 2x as long as the GP NDMC. Hope this helps!

PURE pro series.... Pure grips are the best feeling and longest lasting in my opinion... Also they are the only colored grip made from real rubber and in the USA too.... the other colors are a synthetic blend of some sort that never feels as good as rubber to me....

I've been switching between three different grips recently. Pure Pro, Lamkin Cord, and Gripmaster Synthetics. It really depends on what you are looking for. You have multicompounds now... Do you like the cord? Do you want a tackier grip? Do you want something that is a little more 'old school'? Do you like pretty colors? Those are the reasons I rotate through the grips that I use!

I'll second the z-cord grip. They've been on for six months and still have great bite. Just was with dish soap and hit them with 220 sandpaper every dozen or so rounds. Love them! Be warned though they will rip your hands up at first.

I'm a Lamkin loyalist. To me they just have a better feel than GP. The Crossline and Crossline Cord are such classic, good grips that are so much more reasonably priced than comparable Golf Pride grips. I always found the NDMC too "thick" for me in standard. If they come stock I'll always give them another shot but end up changing out. I also like the Lamkin Tour much more than the Tour Velvet, although I would say the TV is my favorite of the GP grips.

Edited to note: I believe the Lamkin Tour is now the REL Ace 3Gen, which is a heck of a mouthful.

The new Lamkin UTx, if you are looking for a fullcord grip with a different feel. New Golf Pride CP2, if you want to go soft and new Lamkin 3Gen ACE, if you want a colourful bag.

Pure Grips DTX get my vote. I've seen several golfers switch from the Golf Pride NDMC to Pure Grips DTX. They usually comment on the softer feel without any loss of traction. Also many of them are happy to find out that Pure Grips are made in the USA.

I was a long time tour velvet or lamkin crossline user and have had a couple of sets of NDMC but over the past 18 months i have become a pure grips fan. I played a full year with pure pros and then blew them off just to try something different and almost every one of them are still in perfect condition. I saved them because i like them on my woods and hybrids. I put the DTX on my irons and really like those. I was never a huge cord fan but after getting used to them i love the feel. In my own experience they ouperform the NDMC in all aspects. Mainly durability because the lower part of the ndmc got so slick but also the overall feel is something i prefer. The DTX does take some time to get used to and they have a very thin feel them so they are not for everyone.

I like the VDR's, too. It appears they dropped the red, blue and white options as the website only shows black available for 2014.

GP Tour Velvet BCT Cord - I love this grip! It doesn't slip when wet, has a great firm feel, and seems to wear well for me. I play gloveless and they don't tear up my hands either.

Just bought 8 of these for £2 each! (Got a £10 discount code at Gamola Golf). They should've been about £3 each.

I haven't regripped them yet but they feel every bit as good as the GP original versions. The pattern on them is ever so slightly different to the GP ones. Might regrip them with Sharpro label underneath so I don't look like a cheapskate!

I also bought a sharpro tour velvet copy but they don't feel as good as the original - a bit harder than the rubbery original.

Will report back when I've regripped one or two this week.

EDIT: Here is a photo of them side by side (the GP is 0.60 round and the Sharpro is 0.58 round)

Which grips were you using previously? I felt these and was afraid they'd feel a little too mushy in the actual swing. They had a bit of a plastic feel, but you know it's hard to get a real sense just holding them before installing. I'm a crossline cord guy, so I'm afraid the iLine is too much of a 180* from that.

I'm curious about the iLine also. I've had the gp tour wrap and the z-cord, but just bought a Bettinardi with the Pure grip on it and wouldn't mind trying something similar on my irons.

I was using the Lamkin 3Gen and prefer the iLine. They're firmer and tackier.

Just ordered (13) Pure Pro Grips off of Ebay from "2ndSwing". Hoping they will be decent as many ppl have mentioned them.

Got them for 21.50 total so only $1.65 per grip.

Pure DTX and Lamkin UTX are incredible grips. I went from the DTX to the Lamkin UTX and I love them.

Pure Grips P2 wrap...amazing feel...soft and absorbent. I replaced my Wynn Dri-Tac and am thrilled... I like the customisability (word?). And I like the color selections too. All 100% rubber. Not composite. I use their putter grip as well.
