John Daly WITB: Shot at the 2014 RBC Heritage

Choice I believe. He was playing Callaway with the Nunchuk's at Pebble Beach I believe.....He changes clubs and shafts a LOT!!! He's a Tour Van Technicians nightmare....hard to get swingweights right when he plays such large grips and varies shafts frequently.....X-100's, X7's, Nunchuk, Hybrex, to name a few.

Daly still has a following. I still root for him to turn things around even though chances of that are looking slimmer and slimmer. Tournaments still bring him in because he does still draw a crowd. He is still an "everyman" kind of golfer.
His chances are the only things looking slim.

Didn't he have stomach surgery to help him lose weight?

I don't say that to be mean. It's a shame to see such a gifted player spiral down. He seems like a real nice down to earth guy.

JD is still with TMAG? Go figure. I thought JD was playing that Warrior Custom Golf crap.

The design of the Nunchuk is such that adding lead tape to the head is necessary to achieve the desired swing weight. The type / weight of grip and amount of tape used also affect the SW.
IMO, spining an XI is not necessary , but these players want any and every advantage they can have. I would want the tape in the heel of the head and not so much in the toe, although the tip section of these XI's can easily endure the stress put on the toe at swing speeds of these tour players. His ball flight with these shafts will be more consistent than any he has ever played . I hope he has dealt with his foot problems that stopped him at the Valspar.
He is now playing with the best shafts ever made , IMO.

Agreed. Daly saw me playing the mb/nunchuk XI combo last year, and decided he wanted to hit his irons like I did.

Lane nailed it here. Stock heads, std length, mine came out at C8. Big need for lead tape with these shafts.

What I want to know is why these tournaments continue wasting sponsorship spots on someone who is done, and not on more deserving young players. Like what is etched on the bag, his last real triumph was 19 years and countless WDs ago.
Because John Daly brings in fans... as does Tiger... they don't sponsor tournaments to give up and comers a break... they sponsor the tournament to make money...

Adams driver?!?! First sighting on PGA Tour
Nope, Els has had it in play since March, possibly earlier.

Nope, he plays all Adams equipment except his driver. He's played the SLDR most of the year and Golf Digest has him playing the Tour Issued Jet Speed Driver now. He's never been in a Adams driver.JD is actually the exact opposite of Ernie. All Taylormade equipment except the Driver which is Adams.

That list is out of date, it's from February, he had the XTD driver in the bag at the Valero Open and I thought it was in the bag at the Masters too.

Gotta love John sure he's not gonna win another tournament (personally I'd love to see it) but the guy is pure box office. Really interesting is that last year John stated he couldn't hit more than a 5 iron with the modern equipment and ball and now he's got a 2, 3 and 4 in the bag! Does this say something about the new TM kit or was he joshing? We all know you've got to have clubhead/ball speed to hit 2/3 irons with the modern ball but even now John doesn't lack in this area of his game.

Go John - would love to see you make a long overdue Ryder Cup appearance this year.

I don't get all the hate about Daly "taking" a spot in events. He is invited to play in them. It is not like he is walking up to an up-and-comer and taking their lunch money. The sponsors decide who they give the spot to. Be mad at them, not the player.

How does he continue to get into tournaments? I can't remember the last time he made a cut and therefore he's keeping someone more deserving out of the tournament. His days of hitting it longer than anyone are over and his iron control and putting are pretty bad. And even his driver swing is really out of control now. Not sure why he never tried to improve but his days are clearly numbered. Next stop the Champions Tour I guess.

A Truck Stop Sponsorship...seems fitting. Well done, Mr. Daly.

Used to be a fan. Jumped off the bus a long time ago. Too many 2nd chances, too many lawsuits, too many WD's, too many WTF moments, too many attempts at the blame game. I know he still has fans, I'm just not one anymore. Will always wish him success, but in 2 more years he's the Senior Tour's problem.
