Bubba's behavior, DISSAPOINTING

Recommended Posts

Bubba loves his momma, we know how much he loved his dad. He loves his wife and is good to her (I personally think she doesn't take any crap from him). He loves his boy and seems to be good to him. Ok it looks like he has some anti social tendencies and perhaps he is just wired that way but no need to throw the guy under the bus. It's not like everyone's an angel in this village or are they. :D I've heard plenty of stories about other tour pros who are far worse than Bubba.
His caddie threatening to quit because of his attitude at one time as well as the video proof of him berating him gives me no confidence that he treats anyone else in his personal life better. I have nothing else to go by than how he treats his caddie and friend.

I understand the guy (I think) and his inability to deal with failure, but it's more than "Bubba being Bubba."

Agreed that there are a lot of stories out there about players not being the greatest people in the world, but most if not all of them are not out there telling everyone how they are a changed man. If you're out on your stump like Jimmy Swaggert you better be prepared for people to judge whether you're practicing what you preach.

His caddie is one of his best friends and he called him out if he didn't change his behavior. Evidently he stayed so he's either improved or working on it still. He used to be WORSE than he is now I hear. He does have a ways to go, but if he's still striving to be better, then that's all we can ask of anyone. But like I said a few pages ago, he never should have said he was a changed man. That could have definitely been worded differently.

Bubba Watson = David Simms from Tin Cup.....heartfelt when the lights are on and an A-1 jerk when the cameras go dark.

Hurts me to say so as well, because he professes to be a strong Christian, and as Christian, it gives us a terrible name. Not judging his true beliefs, but his antics have burned a lot of people.

I think the people that seriously criticize religion actually don't think much of the individual actions of one professed believer. They are more concerned with the underpinnings of what having 'faith' means in life and within a society.

Can't wait for Bubba to be at the Ryder Cup in France :D

Unfortunately, I'll have to root for him (much like the Brittish posters have to root for Poulter during the RC).

Oh well, I'll be sure to take long, hot showers every night to wash away the dirt....
Bubba is not perfect, neither is anybody else. Just because we are not perfect doesn't mean we have zero spiritual value. I really wonder how some of the "Bubba criticizers" would act if they were put into his proverbial arena. He who is without faults, let him cast the first stone.

It's hilarious to me how many of the posters berating the redneck from Bagdad are the same ones that give a pass to an even bigger redneck from Arkansas. I guess that's because Big John is "everyman's" hero.

I wonder how many thought I was talking about Bill Clinton. :D

I have worked with Ping before and I can tell you straight up front that Bubba is a real tool!!!!!! He's all about himself and when he walks onto the tour trailor and when they see him coming they all say don't talk to Bubba unless he acknowledges you first. We were the guys tweaking his clubs, regripping, and doing all we could to make his game better, so unless you're one of the players he doesn't have much respect for anyone. ...

I don't know Bubba but they had a nice 30 minute show on the Golf Channel tonight about him. I'm 44 and grew up in neighboring Pace, FL. Played golf at Milton High School (same as Bubba) and then got the golf team started at Pace High School. The Golf Channel showed a lot about Bubba's emotions. It also reminded me about how much I learned and how much I miss golf in the FL panhandle.

Bubba gave me an autograph once but I still cried, it said " To Big Stupid Ugly Jerkface, I'm not your friend, signed Bubba" and then he stole my child's allowance and said it was for gas that he was going to put in the General Lee while doing donuts on my front lawn.

Ah, the critical all seeing eyes of salty WRX members.. I really hope the people posting such hateful comments never, ever do or say anything negative when they are having a bad round of golf. (Or for that matter, when something negative happens to them at WORK, since that's what this basically is for Bubba - he's stated golf is his job, not necessarily his hobby)

Sure, it may seem that someone in Bubba's shoes has the responsibility to be some sort of role model.. but does he really? If he can act the way he wants and still support his lifestyle (i.e., not risk losing sponsors, support, getting kicked off the tour, etc), who can really say he's doing something wrong? That'd be like me trash talking a co-worker for not wanting to go out for a cup of coffee after work just after they've finished a huge project and are exhausted or in a bad mood because of it. Oh poor me, right? No coffee :/ Life lessons all around.

Devils advocate to myself, because every story has two sides (and I'm not trying to offend anyone): I wouldn't know what it's like to be in the spot light, but I'm sure it's very helpful to remember that you are in the spot light in both good times and bad.. at the end of the day, I think he knows that though, but he also knows you can't please everyone all the time. Guess we need to forget about the $50,000 he donated to the Red Cross , and the $100,000 he donated to the Ronald Mcdonald house, and the $35,000 he donated to his hometown school. ;)

As far as not being able to focus on the golf, and getting distracted or frustrated by cameras or people... For one, he has ADHD, couple that with a frustrating round of golf/day at work, and what do you expect? I too wish everyone had the enthusiasm of Pee Wee Herman 100% of the time, but it's just not realistic anymore. People demand too much from other people, especially those they don't know. Case in point.. some of these responses.

Dufner rolled by me at a pro-am when I was looking for an autograph.. just looked at me and went by. There were only two of us waiting. You don't see me hating on the Duffman, at least Bubba gave the girl a reason, lol.

Failing to get a ballplayer's autograph when I was a young kid might have hurt at the time...but it taught me something valuable.

Professional athletes are people, too. Yeah, they may be rude, or really very nice folks, and fan-conscious. But, they're people - not your autograph servant or photo model.

They can't be expected to do what you want. Not all of the time. They can't be looked up to more than just being good at what they do - play their chosen sport as a profession. Have an athlete as a role model for performance in their sport, not for how to live life and treat other people.

It sucks that the little girl got upset. An autograph or photo or friendly chat is a kind gesture, but should never be considered a requirement *unless* it is a dedicated autograph session or meet 'n' greet, and even then - they don't have to like it, necessarily.

If I was that girl's Dad, I'd scoop her up, comfort her, then move on down the line and look for another golfer to sign something for her. Life does indeed go on, and you can't get what you want all of the time. That's not reality.

I was there a couple years ago when Phil threw a fit about people having their phones out and taking photos. Must be an angry lefty thing.
Damn socialists...
I'm a right-winged Lefty......a walking contradiction.....that's enough to make anyone grumpy......

In all seriousness it's disappointing to hear that. Maybe I was oblivious but I never saw that coming....bad day or not, don't crush a kid's soul - they won't forget something like that.

When I was 9 or so, I had a similar situation with Sergei Fedorov. Asked for his autograph at a restaurant and he looked at me, gave me a dirty look and walked away. (He was walking out as I was walking in with my mom) - I even handed him my Red wings hat to sign. I'm 28 now and remember it vividly.
