Bubba's behavior, DISSAPOINTING

Recommended Posts

But Pepper, you've got to admit that Bubba's history that has been well covered hasn't exactly been a shining example of how to treat others. The media isn't being unreasonable in their accounts of his antics and behavior. Simply stated he needs to, as I believe Jack was quoted to have stated, "Remember who is buttering his bread." Or just grow up a bit.

Always amazes me, just how entitled and judgmental some people are, even when it doesn't happen to them. They complain, yet never in their lives have they had to contend with people wanting this or that from them while they are at work, trying to find a way to concentrate, no less cope with ADD. NO one player can accommodate all wishes. Worse yet, that Jack N. said anything. During Jack's day, he hardly spoke to anyone, nor has he signed much anything unless he was getting a piece of the action. He should be ashamed of himself.

PS: Many tour golfers get tied into charity events or hold their own and seek attention. Bubba, for the most part, keeps his 'giving back' quiet. He's a man that does what's right, when no one is looking. Can't say that about Jack N or many other tour players.
The OP was pretty clear that it was a girl by herself asking for an autograph. Bubba decided to be rude about it.

And please, get out of here with this "we've never had to be in Bubba's shoes" talk. Give me however many million per year he makes and I'd be just fine. I bet he wouldn't last 10 days at my job, if that. He thinks a seven year old asking for an autograph on a bad day is rough? He'd have one client asking for a report on a "bad day", snap at them, and be immediately fired at my office. I don't get "bad days" where I get to be rude to clients and co-workers, nor would I.

Nobody expects the tour pros to sign EVERY autograph, but to flat out tell a seven year old girl you're not signing because you're playing bad is just childish.

I've seen some tour pros refuse to sign autographs, but they usually say "hey, hit me after the round that's when I'll be signing" and it's no big deal.
I don't know the OP, so naturally question his account. Heck it wasn't even his little girl, but supposedly someone else's little girl. Yet, he's targeting Bubba as a bad person here.

You call it rude for his saying no, and many believe the OP's account of events. I call it keeping his sanity while at work. Even if the account was somewhat accurate, taking one event out of context, because it was a little girl is wrong. I wouldn't put it past that littler girls father for putting his little girl up to asking. Maybe he was dogging Bubba for a signature too; we don't know. Look, the only reason I support Bubba's actions is I put them in perspective of the rest of his life, and don't make mountains out of mole hills, which seems to be the prevailing wind here.
Keeping sanity while at work? He got asked for an autograph by a little girl in a pro-am.

Yeah, that would drive me insane....better tell her off so I can keep a clear head.

Medic, I suspect if we scrutinize a great many on Golfwrx, we'll get an even worse reading. As for the media, come on; they seldom report accurately without bias. Bubba has admittedly said on camera, he copes with ADD, and been working hard to mask the affects, and seems to be making headway. Its NOT an easy task. Funny how it's not ever taken into account. Given that I cope with dyslexia and it affects my game focus, ADD surely can have similar affects.

Considering his exposure to the public, he's doing really well as far as I am concerned. The 'GREAT' Jack Nicklaus was NOT a very friendly person during his day either, so he should have kept his mouth shut on the subject. Billy Casper has ADD as well. That wasn't made pubic till after he retired though. Expecting a passionate man like Bubba to be better than anyone else that rejects signing autographs or gets into a huff with their caddie, exaggerates the events, which is what the media does. For that, its clearly a mountain out of a mole hill. There's not much more I can say to the subject. Have a good evening.

If you try to pet a dog behind a fence and it bites you, should you be mad at yourself or the dog?

Bubba has shown himself to be narcissistic and unstable on more than one occasion. I genuinely believe he has issues that most of us don't understand. Giving away money doesn't change those issues.

After all the evidence, expecting more out of him is our fault.

If I see him coming my way with the kids, I say "give it a shot, but he's not right in the head, so it may not go well".

If it doesn't go well, it's a learning experience.

If it does go well, they have something to sell on ebay. ;).
funny how you can replace 'Bubba' with any name on here.... like, 'Tiger'.
No, not really.

Narcissist? Sure. Controlling? Probably. But that defines lots of sports studs. I don't think Tiger has shown himself to be unstable or not right in the head tho.

Why does everyone have to drag Tiger into anything negative about a golfer? I'm not a Tiger persona fan, but dragging him through the mud every time another golfer screws up is tired, old and cliched out. :(

I'm sorry.

But I'm confused.

I thought these tour events took place in The United States of America.

In The United States of America a golfer is FREE TO CHOOSE whether he smiles or waves or talks.

It's his God given right.

There is no law that states me must write his name down for anybody, child or adult.

He alone has the choice to make that decision for himself.

Yet, here were are in some place called GolfWRX on the Internet where people who oppose freedom want to FORCE HIS HAND against paper and commit his identity at the insistence of others.

We have posters who, free of adequate spelling skills, have deemed themselves judge, jury and executioners of a Man's Character based on their own laws of self-entitlement.

Anonymous people with less than a dozen posts created threads... nay CHAINS of oppression.

Well, sirs, that is wrong!

It is unjust to sentence him to the virtual slings and arrows of an unruly mob.

Bubba has the Right to sign or not sign anything he does or does not choose to for anybody he wishes or does not wish.

So say we all!

63e503e68d4bd3c61c627b11752a1df5.jpg

(and that child has the right to cry. even if this is a highly dubious account.)

Hear, hear Bubba has rights. And no one on GolfWrx has the right to post anything about any personal encounter they may have had with Bubba. After all, we can't let this freedom of speech thing get out of hand.

Awesome post by North Texas. I'd like to think that monkeynaut is reflecting on how hard he has just been owned but I suspect that he probably isn't.

Owned? By who?

My post had nothing to do with Free Speech.

You're free to say what you want.

If you want to post that Pro Golfers are slaves to The Ebay Handout Crowd, fine.

Oh, if you also want to post that you didn't catch how tongue in cheek my over the top rant was. Fine, too.

Silly Rabbit. The Wrx are for kids.

I lost all respect for Bubba after watching him berate his caddy last year. Even before that something about the guy didn't sit right with me and his balling at the Masters (while understandable.. I guess) annoyed the hell out of me. Bubba plays "bubba golf"... does whatever he wants, says whatever he wants, and plays however he wants. That's fine, I'd just rather not root for him.

Bubba does seem like kind of a jerk, but come on folks telling an 8-year old "not today" when she asks for his autograph is not exactly child abuse.

These are the type of things that the adults stew over for days, while the supposedly traumatized kid forgets about it in 5 minutes.

Bubba's a moody guy obv. but jeez he's allowed to say not today to a kid. Because it's a kid he's not allowed to say no? Weird way of thinking in my opinion.

Just for your info, Bubba just kicked my miniature dog! In a world with many problems, not signing an autograph seems pretty trivial. He is working on his game even if it is a pro am.

We get threads pretty regularly on here now bashing players,
bashing Golf Channel personnel, bashing equipment makers
and in some threads members going after each other.

A lot of drama queens on here that just have to start threads
picking people apart they don't even know. They know they'll
get lots of replies from people who like to run with the crowd
and pile on.

It's sad to see the lack of independent thinking being used,
save for a few who dare go against the prevailing thought
of the day.

That is like going to DisneyWorld to see Mickey and having the actor say, "Later kid, I am on break." The kid knows who he is, probably had her heart set on getting an autograph, and pretty much got...

Wait a minute...

I just remembered I shouldn't have to explain something like this.

Sorry, if you don't like my view, but it stands. By and large, CA kids are messed up and its their parents fault. Not only have my wife and I raised a good son (in college now), we've seen up close the extent to which parents don't parent, but want to be friends with their kids. My wife and I were very pro-active parents, and we both work. One or both of us made all his events. The worst parental tells were when his teams traveled to other schools.

Our house so happened to be the one all the HS kids liked hanging at. Reason, they liked how we parented. I heard those kids talking about subjects that their parents never imagined. Its no wonder so many HS kids are drunks, druggies and failures; they don't feel loved. Of all my son's friends though JR & HS, only '2' other than my son, made it to college; and he went to 'statically' good JR/HS schools.

Sorry for off topic, but it pizzzes me off seeing what parents do to their kids.
