Brooks koepka has a lot of potential

I think he's very good. But I don't think he is a major champion or hall of fame caliber. Just my opinion from the little I have seen from him. Seems to be a decent putter, very long, and not that accurate. I guess we will wait and see how his career plays out.

he's been talked about since last year and his progression has been outstanding

he's got all the tools and now it's all about using them properly.....young guy along with peter uihlein who went against the norm to head to the European Tour and has earned himself more options on the PGA Tour. like everything about him especially his attitude. doesn't hurt at all that he's a seminole either!!

Very good player, seems like he's had a slightly inconsistent season with a few missed cuts but then he's gone from playing Challenge Tour courses to PGA Tour courses and probably playing a lot of them for the first time. Up to World number 70 now, definitely has the game to start contending on Tour. For selfish reasons wish that he played a little more in Europe just so we could see a little more coverage. Thought it was poor how little coverage he got last week considering he finished T4.

I'd describe him as Gary Woodland with a short game.....

his putting stats are very good: 44th in stokes gained putting, 44th in PGIR, 24th in length made & 38th in 3-putt avoidance ....his scrambling stats are well above average too.... but his glaring weakness is driving the ball off the planet; only 149th in fairways hit & when he misses fairways he misses them by a lot; only 182nd in distance from edge of fairway....

I mention Woodland because he & Koepka are both taught by Claude Harmon III

I'm a big fan of both Koepka & Woodland but IMHO Koepka has a higher ceiling because he's still only 24 & has much better hands around the green....major champion material? ....time will tell

Odd that BK has won the most Majors of anyone in the post TW “era” and there are so few threads on him.

We get threads on Rory and Bryson and even Antony Kim!

Not sure why that is. Guy is even really into

Brooks is an interesting guy, in that i wonder if he loves golf. I think he loves winning, and happened to be great at golf. And he loves winning a major and puffing his chest out

I don't think regular events interest him very much, they don't seem to. He seems a bit different from Rory in that sense , in that Rory i think enjoys the day to day more, and i think really likes playing.

Ya, something about the field at majors puts him in high gear

Outside of his 5 majors, he has 4 pga tour wins and 2 Euro wins

From 2014-now he’s played 37 majors.

Hes won 5 and has top-10s in 18 and missed 3 cuts

I remember reading about Brooks in Golf Magazine and how he and Peter Uihlein(Wally Uihlein's son & former head of Titleist) were going to try and make it through Europe first.  That must have been one heck of a cool adventure and likely toughtened him up.  I've been following him ever since rooting for his success and well here we are.  I'd say he's done ok lol.

Why are we bumping 10 year old threads 😂

We've run out of new topics to discuss other than bashing other Tours, players, announcers, courses, and how great law enforcement is etc  😁

Not that Rory is the picture of excitement, but outside of when him and Bryson were going at it, he's pretty boring.  He doesn't give the media a ton, and moving over to LIV has taken him out of the non major spotlight even more than he already was previously.  Seems like these days most of the casual guys want the really polished guy who delivers the same nonsense over and over to the camera's every week.   I like Brooks - but I'm not really sure he gives people a ton to talk about.

This is written like you are saying Rory went to LIV and caused me to do a quick search to see what I missed.

I think you might be right.  I don't think there is anything wrong with not loving golf and yet still being good at it.  You hear the same things sometimes about NFL players.  There are guys that don't love the game but are good enough at it to make a living doing it.

If golf is a means to an end, and the end is financial stability, there are a bunch of guys who you would think would have hung it up as they are essentially set.  If you don't love it, and were doing it for the money but you don't need money any longer, you better find something else in the game to motivate you I suppose.  I get the impression you don't stay at the top just going through the motions.

Sorry - could have worded that one a ton better, often posting while in the middle of watching more important stuff that make me money resulting in responses that are very choppy.

Brooks was just coming off a T4 finish at the US Open when this thread was made. He had a few Challenge tour wins but none on the Euro or PGA Tour at that point.

It was another 3 years later when he won the 2017 US Open and started to become the great we know of today.

Yes, BK gotta respect, was taking trains and buses and sleeping in cheap hotels all over Europe for 2 years.

Playing bad weather and courses no where near as perfectly groomed.

He said he likes playing in sloppy conditions and the “Gary Player-esque” trains, planes, and automobiles, when he started gives him a degree of toughness many others don’t have

Bruce is often characterized as boring.  If we did a SWOT for him, I would label his restraint and subdued nature as a strength.
