Another vote for the Orlimar Tri-metal driver. I guess if I was under some trees and wanted to hit a 150 yard low duck hook, then it would have been great. That's all that ever came off the face of that club.

Man, I can't believe all the Nike Sumo 5900 hate. Still maybe the straightest driver I've ever had. I am partially deaf because of the thing, well that and the Kiss concert in the early 90s.

Great thread.
I had the Orlimar 3 wood first, and loved it. I thought, I gotta try the driver, if it is anything like the 3 wood it will be great..... Hit a demo and took it on the course, I thought, WTF? Is this a counterfeit or something, I can't hit this at all...

And I also don't get the hate for the Sumo 5900, It was the straightest driver I ever hit. Not the longest, probably a good 5 to 10 yards shorter than what I was playing otherwise at the time, but it was a fairway finder. I was just getting back into some statewide competitive tournaments that year I had it, with it the the bag, and the confidence of finding more fairways under pressure was a real benefit. Plus, I could even hit it off the deck, I can't do that with any other 460cc driver.
Exactly!

I bought the 3W and loved it. So I pulled the trigger on the driver. Everything came off of it low and left. Everything. I had zero confidence in that driver. As a matter of fact I pretty much knew that if I pulled it out of the bag I was about to be disappointed in the results.

Nike's products in general have always been junk, even today. The original Nike drivers were pure garbage as stated above.

Next to those I had a Titleist 905 (can't remember if it was a T or R or S) and I swear that thing was pure junk. It was so bad that I really believe it was a fake.

MacGregor's Eye-O-Matic wasn't very good either. Clean, nice looking drivers but the one I had just didn't have any pop to it.

This thread pops up every once and while and that is good, because we should all be reminded what driver was complete crap.

Mine was the original Nike Blue driver as has been stated probably 100x in this thread it was absolute garbage. I have stayed away from all Nike golf equipment since, I mean everything don't even demo them--really left a bad taste. I had some knock off/scammer clubs called Ball Busters that were garbage as well but I was young and inexperienced at the time and the inter web wasn't quite there yet.

R1, R9, R11, SLDR, RBZ Stage 2. Take your pick. I liked the RBZ non Tour and still have it but I have slowly gone to PING with my drivers.

I tried four different R1 heads and three different SLDRs. Just didn't work due to noise or forgiveness.

I am phasing out my White headed TM clubs and trying some different stuff.

I had the same experience. That blue Nike driver left such a bad taste that I've never owned any Nike equipment other than putters. I love the Nike Impact shoes, though. Best golf shoes I've ever owned.

I forgot, there was one other really not spectacular driver for me, though it may have been a product of it having a FAR too light shaft, the Taylor Made Tour Burner TP. It went a long way to the left and right with the goofy X-Con 5 in it.

Glad I am not the only one to remember this turd. Beautiful looking driver that just had nothing to offer. Hands down the worst driver I have ever owned.

I remember that driver. Was like the most expensive one back around '99. Yes it was garbage.

Slightly off topic,

I found a Ti bubble 2, 2 FW (yes, a 2 Wood) head, at the driving range, ±10 years ago.
I didn't know any better, at the time. I had a DG S300 @ ½" longer than my BH C455, 3W installed in it.
I took it to the range 3 times, within that week, and it never left the house since.
I'd forgotten about it until your post.

The first Mizuno metal driver that came with the Exsar Gold graphite shaft
Cant even remember the model name
So hard to hit

Think I had that one- based on the shaft. I went back to persimmon drivers after a couple POS like that. Now I rotate two Mizuno drivers and love them.

I would agree about the shoes/clothes. I wear Nike shoes all day.

Also, how bad was that Nike driver? I almost replaced it with a Callaway C4, flat out destroyed the Nike. Thankfully the old TM 540 was on the rack and that ended up in the bag.

Worse: the original R11 with the Ahina driver. I was so into the madness and the Ahina SUCKED in that head, no matter what I did, it was short. It destroyed my love of the Diamana shafts, then 5 years down the road, I had the Ion Ahina in my SLDR and KILLING it. Go figure...gotta be a crap head.

2nd worse driver - RBZ Tour. It was average, not as long as everyone made it out to be and eventhought I got some nice "long" ones off the driver, nothing was memorable about it. I had the RIP Phenom (nice shaft) and also the Harrison Eclipse. The Harrison made the driver last as long as it did in my bag...till the G20 came and blew it away and then the SLDR blew that away....
