Hi All,

The club I'd like to contribute to this thread is not tour issue, but something I made for a friend who wanted an 80 degree lie for his Taylormade Rossa Daytona Kia Ma. He had used a vise and elbow grease prior to bend the stock hosel because that sort of lie was never built. I gathered my thoughts and came up with the following improvements to make him a custom 1 of 1:
1. Lie angle was supposed to be 72 deg., with about a 5:00 toe hang. I cut the Kia Ma hosel off, and decided to apply one of my long neck hosel designs to achieve the 80 degree lie, while also reducing the toe hang to about 4:00
2. The standard finish of the club was stainless steel. I thought a flat black teflon would reduce glare. I managed to save the emblems by boiling them out.
3. The Kia Ma insert was a nice piece, quite intricate, but decided to remove it and apply a new texalium / carbon fiber hybrid for more of resin feel & sound
4. Matching the Superstroke midnight series grip was not planned. It just happened to work out this way, and it was a nice correlation.

He now calls the club the "Al Davis" and games it consistently, which made me smile

Those are super nice. The Forged Milled insert is really a great one. Almost no availability here retail. JDM or custom. There are a couple pictures of MC72 Forged Milled at the start of the thread. Keep an eye on it, it has dropped a bit.

It is a bit of an obsession! Zach, Dave Feldman and I share all the our finds from eBay. It is a lot of fun. And as I have said before, much to jll62's dismay, I have yet to spend more than the price of a RETAIL Scotty Cameron on any of them. The most expensive is the Forged Milled MC72. Most were well under half that price. We are not talking SC 009 prices!

Nothing wrong with SC putters. Some of them are beautiful. But I chose 20 Rossa/TM putters vs 1 SC 009. Nobody really loses in this comparison. Get what you like and be proud of it.

You know that is something to mention, if the seller has one thing you like, take a look at what else they are selling. Maybe you can work an offer that combines shipping and get a discounted price for 2 items.

The Black finish on the Kia Ma model is like concrete. The white on the R11/R11s and original Ghost putters was "fragile" to say the least. The Ghost Tour models are better, still not great. Zach Heusser, Dave Feldman and I have had this discussion lately. Do we refinish these to be perfect or leave original. For the most part we are collecting, not trying to resell or invest. I touch up a little, but generally leave them alone. When the refinish costs more than you payed for the putter.....
[/quote]Well as a club collector I will throw in my .02 I am like you I collect and hold on to a particular club because I like it. It really depends on several things If you like it the way it is with a little touch up fine. If maybe you wanted to display it in your shop or man cave and wanted it perfect then even if it cost you more to refinish it than you paid for it do it any way. Another thing is the particular club's proven pedigree I might not want to touch up a club that had gotten it's bag scars or battle scars from an actual tour player. But it is whatever you want to do costs be dammed. The main thing is to enjoy it like you want to

I appreciate your input. That is the question, to refinish or not. For the most part, I like that they are used and it makes it easier to take the head cover off and enjoy using them from time to time. Some of these carbon steel putters feel so good.

Putter feels great! I Like the shape and it's easy to line up. I'm going to re grip it tomorrow with a Super Stroke Claw grip.

I have watched those also. i don't really know about each insert, but slightly different. Not as much as a steel insert verses a plastic insert, but slightly different. Also some of the badges are missing (Rossa badge for the cavity and the Kia Ma badge on the sole). You might want to check with Black Oxide Service or Continental and make sure you can buy those separate.

They also could be helpful on the inserts.
