Kekoa congrats on the new set - they look amazing. Love how simple and classic the design is and that PVD finish just brings a bit of a modern touch. How do you find the AR-1 heads blend with the flatback heads in terms of looks and flight etc.
Thanks for the comments. Crazy thing is I haven't even received the Ar-1's yet. Apparently there was a mix up with the finisher. I assume looks wise they will flow nicely as they did with my other set. I just wish the AR'1 would launch higher, but there isn't a whole lot of flexibility to move the COG around like they can do with the flatbacks. I'll get pics up of the AR-1 when they arrive.
Have you tried the EZ-1's? My combo set had them in the 4 and 5 and they really get the ball up. And have a thinner topline than my ar-1's (not sure why I said that, I'm sure you've seen them before). Very interested to see how they look in the PVD. Have you ever considered different shafts in the AR-1's compared to the diamondbacks...although thinking about it I can't really think of a mid-ish launching 130 gram shaft

Are those wedges in a new finish? I don't recall ever seeing that finish, definitely a cool finish.

Once again Kekoa awesome set. And thanks for very detailed description on the whole process leading up to finish set. It was fun to follow.

Enjoy them!
Ryan

I had 3&4 ez1's on my last set. They looked amazing but i hit the ar1 better and more consistent. Wierd huh?

Wedge finish is called dark earth. Im curious to see how everything will wear as well. Just need to hit a few sandy range balls to get over my apprehension. Ill keep you guys posted. Here are shots of the ez''s. They just sit in my spare bag.

Haha looking at thos EZ-1's they look a little scary to hit for a "game improvement" (I guess that's what you'd describe them as compared to AR-1, SB-1).. I'm looking at my EZ-15 iron and yours look scarier. Maybe it's the size of pics or lack of loft lol?

Beautiful build! I'm really loving the squared off toe.

Dear lord, they are amazing!

Just wondering why you didn't do a full set of db's?
Cost was a big factor and can you imagine looking at this in a 3 or 4iron? No thanks. lol

I'm with fore_life here, gotta have a 3 and 4 iron. I'm game! I want the mini-DB 2-iron though, something no bigger than my 1957... A small-blade is confidence inspiring! :idhitit::D

Oh, and throw up an address picture when you get a minute if you would, I'm curious to see what these things look like behind a ball. And if said ball looks like a tennis ball.

So classic. Looks like an iron from 1970.

Wedges look great also, love the 48/53/58 gaps.

When you mentioned the crotch of the club are you referring to the topline meeting the hosel with a straight angle? I guess the opposite (and extreme opposite) would be like like a Ping Zing 2?

Also if possible could you maybe snap a shot or two of them from address with a ball? I have no idea why but squared toes seem to frame the ball a little better. I have no idea why, but it just prefer that look personally.

EDIT: anything special being done with the AR-1's? Or just kinda a basic AR-1 head with zero offset? Any squaring of the toe on AR-1's (I always figured squaring the toe on a cavity back would kinda change the perimeter weighting of the club, or would it negligible?)

Conrats!
Here's my thoughts:
The diamonds look awesome! I love how they look handcrafted in some way. It might be the angles, but they just don't look like something a cnc could do. They look every bit like a crafted iron.

Square toes. Love. love. WHY DON'T OEMS MAKE A SQUARE TOE IRON!!!!! I'll never play another toe shape than what's in my bag. Square toes frame the ball so much better.

Wesges!! Wow. Love the finish and the stamping ideas.

When you first posted the pics of these I really liked the black finish. But now with the comparison with your older chrome the black looks even better. The stark contrast of black on white is awesome.

I agree. Having my 1957's refinished in black was a definite improvement. I'm a huge fan of black irons. Like kekoa said earlier, I think that the black finish also gives the illusion of the iron being slightly smaller. I have a set of factory chrome 1957's as well and side by side, the black ones do look smaller.

Don is amazing with what he can do. I have a set of macgregor pro-m's that he ground for me right before Macgregor went under and they are still in the bag. I have purchased many sets since but the DW custom grinds always end up back in the bag. Kekoa those may be my favorite set of his that I have ever seen. Really a beautiful set of irons. The diamond grind is my favorite and it truly takes an artist to accomplish such a fine piece of craftsmanship. Enjoy the irons..

Honest question...do you wear gloves on both hands? I know I would for fear of cutting myself when I took those things out of the bag!

Thanks for the address shots. Does anyone else see the small imprint on the 5 iron? I think it says "you suck, don't try" but I can't quite make it out clear enough.
