Bottom pic is a par 3 at bay harbor.

Boy, that is about as near a "glass" day as you're gonna get on the bay. Nice day to sit and find the bottom of a few-teen cans.
Can't tell you how many times I've been out there on vacation with my parents in steady 3+ foot waves, try it for a few hours and get the heck out of there.

Question....in a handicapped match or stroke play event, what should be your stroke conversion percentage? For example, in a match, if I'm getting 7 shots (1 on 7 different holes), how many of those should I make par (gross) or better, on average? Is there such a stat?

I doubt there is a reliable statistic.

As an 8.5 index, you will typically have a 9-10 course handicap. So about 20% of the time, the expectation is you will shoot around 79-81 or 7 to 9 over par unless you are playing very difficult or much less difficult courses. Figure 9-10 pars, a birdie and 7-8 bogeys. I'd estimate you might convert 3-4 bogies into pars if you get 7 strokes. Of course, you would need to be playing well. If you played an average round, the conversion rate would be lower.

There's really not, as far as I know. The criteria for determining which holes are the lowest handicap holes is really inconsistent from course to course. On so many courses, the lowest handicap holes are the par 5s, which for a lower handicap player, are usually among the easiest on which to make par or birdie. Conversely, the par 3s are ofter among the highest handicap holes. What I've heard about the reasoning behind that is that hole handicaps are often determined with the bogey or worse golfer in mind, and for them, longer holes give them more distance over which they can screw up.
I track score in relation to par on par 3s/4s/5s for each round, and over many rounds, the par 3s are my worst scoring holes -- I've averaged about half a stroke over par per hole over the past few years, while I'm more like a quarter stroke over par on par 4s, and about even on par 5s.
When playing in handicapped events when you're getting strokes on certain holes based on hole handicaps, you'll probably find that you will make a lot of pars or better on the lowest few handicap holes, and fewer on the ones ranked 5-7 (depending on the number of par 5s on the course).

Oh and I'd add in Grand Valley's course, the Meadows. The course always seems to be in nice shape. If you're staying somewhere between Holland/Grand Haven it's just a short 15 minute drive east on M-45 from lakeshore.
There is a GroupGolfer deal for the Meadows right now -- can be purchased until midnight tonight:
https://www.groupgol...ontent=baseline
I missed it!

THANKS everyone for the useful info. We're doing The Meadows and Macatawa Legends for sure. Pilgrims is about an hour from where we're staying but we might make the trek.
Played Mac Legends on Monday. Nice course, crazy fast greens, cool wooden bridge over parkway from 1 to 2.
Played front 9 at The Meadows on Wednesday. Nice track with great greens. Course needs a little more attention and I'm guessing it's grounds budget is lacking from GVSU? Hell of a course though.

Both courses had good, Zing-Zang mixed Bloody Mary's.

We found a new fav restaurant in the area: Hops Brewery in Holland. Holland's 8th street was a hit with the girls.

I've been to Grand haven maybe 4 times in 5 years and have yet to have a Pronto Pup. My bad. We found the Kirby House to be our fav in GH.

Not in a bunker, in greenside cabbage. No way to advance it or even hit it sideways. 2 club lengths puts it on the green about 30 ft from hole, 90 percenter for 2 putt bogey.

BTW, was caddying at your track today. We go off #1 at 12:41 tomorrow, stop and say hey if ur around.

Trackman #'s from the Michigan Am at Plum Hollow. Trackman was setup on the 15th tee with the wind blowing into us about 15-20. Par 4 that played ~425 yards for this round. Results are not normalized and of course some of my numbers didn't register but it is interesting seeing the numbers some guys have. One of my buddies swings it 120 but his angle of attack is literally -12 with his driver (his launch angle is less than 1*, pretty funny and yes it isn't much higher than that very often)... If you're wondering which one I am, look for ball speed ;) I figured with the way I struck the drive on that hole I would calculate about a 1.47 or 1.48 smash to get the ss. I really wish it would have picked up my AoA but then again, hitting into the wind I was hitting it low anyway

crystal downs today was incredible. The wind was up, but the greens were on the slow side. The front side is incredible, all of the holes are incredible. 10 is a little boring, as is 15, but other than that, the back 9 is also fantastic. 7 green is so cool, its literally a L shape. 17 is probably the best short par 4 i've ever seen. Overall great experience and a lot of fun

The front nine is spectacular.

There is a lot of slope in the greens at Crystal Downs. It is good they were a little slow. I have seen balls putted into the bunker on 10 and good players unable to even finish 11 when the green speeds are up.
