I grabbed a bottle or 2 of the vanilla java stout this past winter thinking they made it specifically for me. Don't remember much about it except not to buy it. I still look at for a second because it sounds so good. I then remember to just get bells kzoo stout, porter or founders porter and i will be much happier even as boring as they have become. Maybe I'll give it another try one of these days. Have been trying all the porters/stouts I could find the last year or so. Never really liked an ipa (except 2 hearted ofcourse) so I thought I would finally try the dogfish 90min to see what the fuss was about and GD that stuff! It is going to make me broke, divorced, and homeless it's so good!!

So I'll be at our yearly outing at Gull Lake View (we generally play all five of their courses) in just about a month. Any thoughts on the conditions this year so far? Has it been as wet out there as it has been here in the NE? (I'm assuming so).

We've gotten quite a bit of rain this year. Courses were pretty soggy for a little while, but the rain has come a little less often lately, leaving things in really nice shape. Everything is pretty green but playing fairly firm.

Heading over to Grand Haven area this sunday, looking to play over there in the morning(will be driving from battle creek)

hawkshead worth the $70 or so?

Or try Angels Crossing/Yarrow?

Thanks!
[/quote]

Skip Yarrow - it's on a shoe string budget as it is being sold at end of season. They're packing tee times in every 7 minutes to squeeze every $1.00 out of it that they can, course is not being mowed as frequently as it needs to be. Greens not running well. Overall, remember it for what it used to be ... don't waste money on it for what it is now.

So I know this is the Michigan thread but wanted to post a picture from Pacific Dunes, one of the Bandon courses. This is Tom Doak's course and he is building the new Forest Dunes course so I think it fits. I am out here on business but was able to squeeze in 36 yesterday. The reviews are all true. This place is unreal. Think the quality of Kingsley Club but with Arcadia's views. I will definitely be coming back.

P.S. This isn't the best picture but one of the only ones that doesn't post sideways with my iPad.

Nice! Post the others! Here's a trick....crop the pictures a smidge and save. Then it will be right side up.

OD, you've taught me something: when taking course pics, by including the tee box in the foreground, you convey the entire hole. Sincerely.

A little confused. None of those courses are near grand haven. I don't think Hawkshead is bad @ $70 for peak but not a deal either.

I caddied for Bob Bettinardi again today. Figured I'd tell you guys what's in his bag. Callaway XR driver, 3 wood and three hybrids. Mizuno MP15 6-P and Bettinardi 52, 56, 60* wedges. He had a awesome looking iNovai Rev 2.0 prototype putter.

Is he any good? I have to imagine he rolls it pretty well, at least?

Yea he's pretty good. I caddied for him a few years ago and he's gotten quite a better. I think he said he's a 6. I don't think he missed any of the lines I gave him on the greens.

Edit: I forgot his awesome license plate: "HNYCOMB"

Looking for recommendation on a course to play...

Headed up to Soaring Eagle with my buddy from Metro Detroit (Waterford) - taking the 75 route. We are going to have free time Friday early afternoon and I was looking for somewhere to play that is nice but also a decent price. We should be able to hit some type of twilight -planning on playing sometime 1-4ish and looking to keep it around $50 or less if possible?

You can't get it. It was a special heavier weight they made just for spieth. I know you could tip trim a hybrid shaft but you would have to add quite a bit of weight to it. Most players using driving irons are only available with steel shafts. I am going to try a Wilson v4 fg utility iron with stock 90 gram kuro kage shaft this week. If you want a di 95 I would think then look at this head or find a mp fli hi that came as graphite. Good luck with this. I have been trying to get this for about three weeks. My di85 spins too much in the 915h at 21 degrees.

Might want to try Diamana D+ hybrid shaft--they make a 92 version in S & X, and a 102 in X. If you spin one of those too much, I'm not sure what else you can do from an equipment perspective.

Have you considered Buck's Run? It's right by soaring eagle and a pretty nice course. I have no idea what the cost currently is.
