I keep coming back to look at this thread. Love these wedges. My Vokey's could be in [i]serious[/i] trouble.

What I would like to see is Ping make a matching set of irons. No gimmicks. No gaudy junk in the cavity. Just a clean, simple minimalist iron design that works. Even better if it had minimal offset, along the lines of the S55.

If anyone at Ping is listening, please consider this. It would be a winner!

For someone who mentioned the SS "like Scratch does", you should know that SS for PING means Standard Sole. Then they usually have WS for Wide Sole. TS for Tour Sole. I don't know that they are necessarily different grinds, the main difference is the width of the sole.

I don't mind the stuff on the back and wish Ping would make a matching set of irons for the Gorge wedges as they are.

Actually, the i25 wedges aren't bad. And you can get custom grinds on them. Now why he plays 130g x100 in irons but 120g Nippon in wedges, that I can't say.

Very good looking wedges. Not sure if they'll knock my TVDs out, but I will definitely give them a try. I agree, that I would not be unhappy if they kept them this way for retail. They look really clean, and when other companies seem to be going for the crazy colors and lines, these would really stand out.

Does the face on the i25 SW or LW have the same type of face scoring to roughen them up that the Gorge or Ansers have?

These are beautiful!! I'm digging the color of the Gorge (match my G25s and EYE2) but the new one is so clean. I always loved PING wedges' shape.

How much custom grind from the WRX department worth? Not a fan of the 3 sole type, I prefered the Vokey system with many grind. It helped my game a lot.

I agree they would look nice, but they would never develop something that didn't considerably out perform an existing model. This is why it took them so long to release the s55. They had to start from scratch and work closely with Bubba to make a better iron than the s56. Those "gaudy" tuning ports, stabilization bars, and multimaterial badges play an important role in performance (ie. swgt management, COG, and vibration dampening). PING is all about innovation, not about old, 50-60 year old technology. Even these new wedges most likely have something more going on than meets the "eye". ; )

The word "Gimmick" is not in PING's dictionary. Everything is well thought out and has performance in mind. Even Turbulators!
