The "Glide" wedges and a new line of putters will be unveiled at the PGA show in February, shipping out not too long after that. Met with my Ping rep earlier this week. The wedges look fantastic, really excited for them to come out.

Can you expound on the new line of putters? Are they going to be a premium line like the Anser Milled series?

They won't be premium milled. Will still have the TR grooves on the face. Some new designs, but the new feature is weighting. There will be two different head weight options, each aimed at either a putter with a quicker stroke or a more deliberate stroke. Lighter one in the 340g range, heavier will have head weights in the 370-380g if I remember correctly. Will be called "Cadence".

Yes. Still the Gorge grooves, but they've optimized the grooves for each loft. As it was examined to me - there is more "groove-to-ball" contact with a 50° wedge than with a 58° wedge. So based on loft, they modified the angle of the edge of the grooves to create maximum spin while remaining legal.

As far as I know or remember, it's still "Gorge" grooves. The rep said that the reason the wedges have found their way into so many of the Tour player's bags is because of the significant improvement in performance from all types of lies.

mdgboxx -- I said my piece in that thread before it jumped off the tracks. But having a company run by engineers and not marketing whizzes and not having new products without performance upgrades is great.

I normally don't like the way ping wedges look, but I have to admit these look clean. Love the design, wish they were forged.

I dunno; I want my wedges cast. If anything, I've found that the shaft is 90% feel, and with an insert, it'll probably feel at least as "soft" as a forging. The benefit is these will be more durable.
