Hey guys questions for you wrxers. You all know more about golf than i do.

Last spring bought the j15 cb with dg pro s300. Found the gap distance was weird so got my fitter weaken the lofts to make a 4' gap from the 22' 4iron to the 46 pw.

Today got bored and went play a golf game in a simulator. It is not a gc2 but a pretty good simulator i guess because the distance are very close to what i have outside.

Today i was hitting my 6 iron 30' at 165 yards ( normal for me) with 82 mph club head speed, a good height ( dont remember the numbers ) but with an average of 6700rpm backspin.

Is this normal? Is it too much spin?

That is a good yardage with your ss but a rule of thumb on spin is take the iron number and times by 1000. So your 6 iron should be around 6000. A little less is great but in my opinion, 6700 is too much. Changing your golf ball to a lower spinning ball will help some.

so you think a different ball will "fix" this. Was playing with srixon q star... so no need to go on the bst and buy some kbs tour v?? That is sad.

I don't think s different ball will bring the spin down to 6000 or below. I think in order for you to achieve the correct amount, either a swing change or shaft change would be in order

Plus I feel that most of us have at one point owned the J15 CB as a result of this thread so we can continue talk of other stuff and how it compares. Plus other good bullsh too!

Everyone is hanging around in the Srixon and Titleist cb thread........Jerry got some new irons that everyone is fussing over.

745, 716, J15. They're all the same. We are over analyzing this. Comes down to looks. They are all fine forged clubs. Pick a shaft and roll with it.

Are any of you CB players doing anything different or more forgiving in the long irons? I guess I'm wondering if I'm going to gain anything by using the DPF or DF in the 4 iron slot?

If I were to move away from my 745s I'd probably go back to mizuno. The MP-54's are still available; keep those in mind as an option too. I played them for two seasons and loved them. I'd seriously consider a combo set of 54's and MP-5 (or 4) in the shorter irons.

Generally agree, but the V sole in the 745's is what made me pick up a set (and keep it in the bag). Especially in soggy terrains, it helps to have the versatility of higher bounce in the back end of the 745s.

jay what happened to the fourteens? do you like those betti wedges?

Still have the 14s. The Bettinardi is a softer version of the vokey M grind IMO.

I know this must have come up already in this thread, but 75 pages is a bit much to read over..just wondering if anyone who purchased their j15 cb's from last year have replaced them with new offerings from this year (non-Bridgestone irons) or are they that good that Hoing is not needed this year?

I just found a set and I've been eyeing them for a while so looking forward to hitting them when all the snow disappears.

Yes I went from the j15 CB to 716 CB to mp25. Not because any of these were better. Just because I like to switch and get bored. The j15 is a very fine forged players CB. Thicker sole but tons of forgiveness.

hard to tell since a lot of people don't report after a while, but there are a few that have moved on to newer shinier things, and others who have tried but can't replace them. They are as good as anything out there, I suspect it's mostly people like jay getting bored, which I am guilty of most of the time. My biggest complaint about the j15 cb has to do with lofts. I don't like how strong they are and it was uncomfortable for me coming from the j15 mb. Bending them I have heard works fine, but makes the bounces a little un even across the set which may or may not be an issue (it's a mental thing for me), and for this reason is why I'm toying with the mb again. I'm probably over thinking it but that is what snow does to you
