Since we're justifying things, he asked if I'd include this justification that he just texted me.....

'OK so I have too many 'extras' laying around and no need for all that. I decided I like my Ping i25 head, but its definitely too high lofted (10.5*) and I need to bring that down some. So the 8.5* solves that problem. Mint i25s were going for $180 on the bay, so the 3w was basically a throw in, but its a pretty low launching head and I already have a shaft to put in it, so that's a no brainer for the price. Then I have a 19* hybrid shipping in from Canada sometime soon and it should round out my set nicely, which will allow me to get rid of the extras. Now assuming driveandputtmachine doesn't send me his cast off harem, it'll be my version of 'minimalist' golf. Eliminate variables and move forward with 14 weapons.'

Sounds pretty reasonable to me...

I will vouch that my i20 3w is the only Ping club I have ever owned and may never have another 3 wood.. I wish you the best of luck in that large can of worms you just re-opened.. Hahaha

Phase 4: Nike Sends me Covert 2.0 performance for broken VR Limited (quite the upgrade for a $40 head, THANKS NIKE!)
Phase 5: Sell Performance driver and use funds to purchase 2.0 Tour Head
Phase 6: Sell VR Tour head, use money to buy Covert adapter and a new grip (pretty much cancelled out after shipping)
Phase 7: New driver is 2.0 Tour with WB from original driver
Phase 8: Trade 2.0 Tour Head for SLDR 430, keep shaft and adapter for Vapor testing in the spring
Phase 9: Trying to purchase Oban shaft for SLDR for $100

Long story short, I have spent probably around $200 with shaft, head and shipping purposes on my last 4 drivers (if everything works out with the SLDR)

I'm in a similar situation, and I couldn't be happier with my "value for the money" on my last 2 driver purchases. I bought an anser on the bst for $100, cracked the head, sent it to ping, they replaced it with a g30. I then bought an i25 head for $100 to pair with the shaft that I got to keep from the cracked anser. So for $200 I ended up with a brand new g30 w/ tour 65 and a mint i25.

Working on those headcovers as we speak. In my case not a wife, rather a daughter & SIL who live with me. Both are very reluctant to spend money on personal 'toys'. A good thing. But I'm 73, I already have all of the essentials covered. And what they don't know can't hurt them.

One set of clubs in 30 years, two sets in 60 days. Like the first new set a whole lot, absolutely nothing thing wrong with buying them with the tests I did, with the rusty skills I had. Hitting them quite well now. If I didn't know better I could play these. But, as my practice has given me a better swing, and, from my readings in this forum, I had too much idle time, on a whim decided to test a few more clubs. Found a better 'fit', I think they'll help me get better, and I'll enjoy them more.

So I bought another set, to be delivered this week. I'll be discrete.

I have a hard time believing its even possible to sell an old Nike VR Tour driver head, let alone for what a Covert adapter would cost ($40). Trading a Covert Tour for an SLDR head was a trade up also.
With how hard it's getting to sell equipment nowadays, I'm finding it harder to justify my driver hoing. My year went like this

1. Traded RBZ Tour driver and CCxL/Fubuki Alpha for Cobra Amp Cell/ Kai'li. Regretted it within days
2. Bought a CCXL 9.5 /Black Tie for $75 and a Jetspeed 9.5 for $110.
3. Pulled Kai'li , put it in Jetspeed. Put an old Kusala Black in the AC
3. Bought CCXL 10.5 head for $60 sold 9.5 head for $25.
4. Failed selling the AC or CCXL drivers ,so I pulled the Black Tie put it in the AC and sold that combo for $75.
5. Bought G25/Blur 005x for $150
6. Couldn't resell the G25 so I pulled the Blur and put it in the CCXL and put the Kusala in the G25

So, my hoing stupidity this year cost me me about $300 for a Jetspeed/Kaili, G25/Kusala and a CCXL/ Blur 005. I haven't hit the newly reshafted G25 or CCXL drivers yet. I'll be selling the CCXL for sure next spring and most likely the G25.

The Jetspeed was by far the best purchase this year, but the stock shaft was pretty crappy. The AC driver was awful no matter what shaft was in it.
