I speculate that Robert was targeted after the thugs checked his WITB and learned that he doesn't use blades...

Steve Sands just asked him to react to the skepticism of his claim. He did seem sincere in the retelling of what took place.

He is the victim right? If he was culpable it would be tough to get in front of camera the way he just did with an active investigation.

Eh, giving an interview or talking to the press about something doesnt in and of itself make it the truth. That kid from USC gave interviews where he swore he jumped off a 3rd story balcony to save a kid that was drowning in a pool - turns out he just wanted to evade the cops.
