Good lord this club is legit!

My 9* LS with tour 65 has outperformed everything I have tried over the past decade. Accurate, forgiving all over the face and long as any I have hit. My only nit pick was I had trouble hitting the center of the face. I added some weight to the head and It was much better

On a whim, I picked up a tour 80 shaft and removed the extra weight from the head. Played with it today and it delivered center strike after center strike. Picked up an additional 5 yards along with a consistent draw. The tour 65 gave me a two way miss which I didn't like for obvious reasons.

Only missed one fairway today by a few feet without consequence.

Longest and straightest I've ever been and really happy about it!
I am struggling to pick a shaft because I don't have launch monitors anywhere near me, so I picked up the head and now trying to decide whether to go with the 65 Tour or 80 Tour shaft. Were you able to turn it over with the 65 Tour shaft once you took the head weight out of it? My miss is Right, which is why I'm asking.

I was able to find a BiMatrix shaft (the Bubba Pink/Chrome shaft) so I will hit it too just to see how it compares. My driver SS is right at 101 ~ 103...so thinking the 65 Tour may be where I start.
I actually did have trouble turning over this club with the tour 65. I tend to have trouble with lighter shafts though.

I do think the Ping G series drivers are harder to turn over than many other drivers. The head is just so big.
I agree completely. My one knock on this club is that I can't move it right to left to save my life. I'm considering moving to an i25 to get some of that workability back.
I closed up the face on my 9* to 9.6* and am able to aim down the right side without fear of a right miss. It's drawing nicely.

I'm thinking of picking up the tour 80 shaft in stiff so that I can cut it down to 44.5 without losing too much weight compared to the tour 65 being cut down.

Anybody else experimented with trying to shorten up the length without sacrificing too many swingweight points?
I cut my Tour 80 down to 44.5", and the swingweight went down to C7 or C8. The walls of the shaft are really thick in the butt end, I think because it gives it some counterbalance. But lead tape or a heavier weight in the port will get it back up where you want it.

My first day hitting my g30 LS 9 degree tour 65 s,outside at the range.Hit 15 c today, man that was a long winter. Was so exsighted to hit balls outside instead of a indoor LM all winter,I was like a kid in a candy store.this driver and my hrs and hrs of practice over the winter did not disappoint. No rool what so every, very wet and still snow on the range but I have never carried the ball as far as today.kepted looking for the new range balls in my bucket with some compression in them to see how far I could make them go.Next to a woman,it's hard to beat the feeling of flying well struck ball.

I got mine a couple weeks ago and I am wildly impressed by it. Long, low and straight. It's perfect so far. I have mine in a speedwr evolution 757 TS Xflex and it is as smooth as can be. Not to mention its a real sharp looking club.

Ebay, mines on a ship from China. Meant to buy one from the US, clicked on the wrong one so shipping will take a little longer, no more mixing ebay with beer.

Fun thread to read. I think we see why an i30 isn't in the works with the SF and LST options. That being said is the G30 worth the extra coin over an i25 which you can get new for $200? Are you buying just a little more forgiveness?

I have a G25 now and I can get a little steep so I'm eyeing up an i25 to take off some spin.

Tipped my Tour 80 stiff another .5" and butt trimmed to a finished 44.5". Don't know the SW, but it's SWEET!!!

Played my first round today with this thing... One word, unreal.

I have been playing "low spin" heads sense there was such a thing, and the problem for we was you always had to give up forgiveness... Not with G30 LS.

I could tell you stories of how long it was, but I prefer to brag about how forgiving, yet workable it is. I can hit it high or low; bend it left or right; or simply long and straight.

This may sound silly, but on the course, it feels and sounds better than it did though all the Trackman sessions... I actually like it. Which is good, because I wasn't a fan of the sound or feel while testing, but knew I had to get used to it because of performance.

Long story short, I hope the honeymoon never ends... Because I haven't had this much confidence with a driver in a LONG TIME.

Play well, my friends.

Or considered from a slightly different angle, is the G30 with stock shaft better than an i25 with $150 to $180 worth of shaft upgrade/upcharge?

Different strokes for different folks but I think the g30 is better personally. I knew I spun the g25 too much so I'd take a demo I25 out frequently but I didn't hit it nearly as consistent. I think the LST is basically the I series driver in a more forgiving package.

Lots of people like the stock tour 65 or 80 and I've seen a 0 get fit into the TFC shaft too. Personally I'm rolling aftermarket though.

With a baby one the way a new G30 is probably out of the question but maybe it's worth it to look for a used one. However the i25 is more pleasing to look at and the shaft is a 1/2" shorter, too. Decisions decisions.

Stock weight is 10 IIRC.
I think the weight varies, as Ping is aiming for D3 swing weight, and they put in whatever weight gets it to that point. Mine has a 6g weight in it, and it was bought off the rack. Since I cut it down to 44.5" (or put in my shaft that plays that length), I've got some lead tape on it to bring up the SW, and I'm eventually probably going to order a different weight plug, mainly because fibers from my headcover keep getting stuck on the edges of the tape.

Played my first round yesterday with the LS, in a local skins event, and for me it's a total game changer. My misses used to spin (curve) off the planet, now a miss just falls out of the sky and still in play. The solid ones are shot out of a cannon, and the lower spin gave me a huge advantage in the wind. An eagle and 3 birdies later, the skins money paid for the driver.

It wasn't just a marginal improvement for me, it was night and day different, for the better. I'm completely sold on this driver.
