I haven't bought Adidas golf shoes in a long time. Last shoes I bought were the Footjoy DNAs and I went 10 wide and they fit very well.

Do I think it will take 4 hours to play Hampshire greens with 8-12 guys? Yes.

 

It's January. If it means people are going to make it, I'll play 14 holes at 1:30 instead of 18 at 12:30. But I'd rather play 18 if all else is equal.

Hampshire Greens is pretty central. Let's pencil it in, but we'll iterate as more guys check in. I'd like to go early, but if we went later, I could go into the office for a few hours, too.

City PQ is correct it will be bad in the DC area. This is my fourth go-round with this crap. I shut all 5 sites down on Friday. 1M people coming into DC. 95 and 295 will be crap along with 495. 1500 buses will be coming into the RFK lots on Friday. Skip trying to use your cell phone down that area there will be a ton of dropped calls. Even with the inauguration starting at 1pm the parade and late comers will screw things up. Roads start to close on Wednesday and the sh!t show will start.

 

If we play anywhere other than the DC area you will than be going against traffic and I would want to play.

Dagoose- it's funny. I think a lot of us are excited for this golf year. My first shot of 2017 was a pummeled M2 3w down the left side on NW's inside 9. Unfortunately, that was my only personal highlight. Played multiple balls, had my boy with me and watched him play a bit, and then went back through and played a second 9 with one ball. Was done in 3hrs.

 

I am rusty as all get out. Fat fat fat. Chipped ok, putted ok, but full irons were crap, hybrids were meh, and the driver was a mystery grab bag of pull hooks and poop. That's what happens to me in the winter. Oh well.

 

Hope you guys got out there today. Beautiful weather for January. My little guy played a par 3 from tee to green, all the way into the hole. Made a 12 (didn't count air swings, only contact). He actually got the ball airborne a bit, and he got all peacocky about it. Very very proud of him today.

Got my first round of 2017 in today at Needwood, shot a 79. There were a couple putts I took as gimme's that I probably shouldn't, but I'm still pretty happy with that score. My first round in a month and a half in the middle of January, shooting in the 70's? F yes. Definitely got some lucky breaks though, like skulling an 8i on the par 3 #7 and having it stop pin high. Wet greens worked to my advantage I guess.

 

Recap:

 

1: Couldn't tell where the ball went after I hit it, but it wound up in the middle of the fairway about 120 out. Hit a punchy 52* when I should have hit a PW, wound up short of the green. Chip and a 2 putt.

2: Nice draw just off the fairway on the left side, hit another draw into the center of the green...3 putt.

3: Skulled a 7i over the right hand side bunker, but got a lucky bounce and it stayed on the green like 20ish feet away from the pin. 3 putt.

4: A bit of a heely drive, but bounced into the fairway like 250 out. 3w just short of the green, chip and a 2 putt.

5: Pushed the drive a little, but it bounced back into the fairway. Hybrid from 215 pin high, 2 putt birdie.

6: Pull the drive into the scattered trees on the left, about 120 out. Try to punch a 9i out from under, but I hit a couple branches and the ball plops down at the edge of the fairway about 90 out. Not very good wedge short of the green, chip and 2 putts.

7: Skulled 8i pin high, 2 putts

8: Tugged the drive a little to the left of the fairway, hit a wedge to the front of the green (back pin position), 3 putts.

9: Draw to just into the left rough, hit a 9i from 140ish just off the green to the right, chip and a putt.

10: Thin drive down the middle, wedge to the green, 2 putts.

11: Smash a 3w that leaks a little to the right so the trees are blocking me, 9i over the trees from 140ish into a bunker, out of the bunker and 2 putts.

12: Leaky 7i just off the green to the right, chip to a couple inches.

13: Toe hook 3 wood off the fairway to the left, push the second 3 wood just off the fairway to the right, with a branch in my way. Try to punch a 52* to a middle right pin position, come up short. Bad chip and a 2 putt.

14: Thin 3 wood to the center of the fairway at the dogleg, wedge to the center of the green from 95ish, 2 putt.

15: 8i to the right side of the green. The pin is on a hill running away from me, so I chip well past it, 2 putts.

16: Drive down the center right, hit a toey 7i from 170ish into the bunker, out of the bunker and 2 putts.

17: Sort of duff a 9i just off the front left of the green, back right pin position. Chip to a couple inches.

18: 3 wood toey draw off the left of the fairway, 7i just short of the green to a front pin position. Chip to a couple inches.

 

All things considered, I thought I was playing/striking the ball pretty well. The only thing I was disappointed with were those feely wedge shots from 90ish yards. I blew it on every one of those. Still, great way to start 2017

Played Pine Ridge with Pq today. Good and bad for both of us. He started out birdieing 1 about 2 minutes out of the car.

 

Course was actually in great shape. I was playing like turd, then switched to K-sig on 9 and promptly went -1 on my next five holes, then turded the bed on 14 and 15.

 

Watching the boys get spanked right now. Hopefully the game tonight is good.
