My course would be filled with a bunch of holes between 225 and 275 yards and then a bunch of holes between 450 and 490 yards and then one or two holes that were 600+. And when you got on the tee and asked, "is this a par 3 or a par 4", a robot would emerge from the earth and say, "you're missing the point'.

 

It would have a scratch rating and a bogey rating, but not a par rating.

 

No rough. Some trees, but trees are well-skirted and cleared underneath. Hilly with turbo slots, and "kick aways". Greens are large, but undulating in such a fashion that good angles into greens are as important as being close to the green. "Channels" that funnel balls into greens or kick them away like links courses. Two shots that are a meter apart can wind up 20 meters apart. In some places you need to chip from 5 yards away. In some places, you can putt from 60 yards away. IOW, fun.

 

No carts. Sorry, priceless. It'll be the same for me one day. No carts at Augusta. No carts at Bandon or Streamsong or Bethpage. No carts at CityLinks Golf Wonderland.

 

On the bathroom stalls, you'll get an indication of whether that stall has Charmin, or Quilted Northern.

 

There is really no need to apologize for your cart policy. Since you will be investing your capital, I support your right to design the course as you wish with the rules you want. As Eastwood says-a man has got to know his limitations and CityLInks Golf would be way past my limitations, so the cart rule is moot. So if the wife wants me dead, she just has to put one of my golf balls in your first tee starter rack.

Feeling human again today. Wife had the stomach flu last weekend and was kind enough to share with me starting Monday. She was violently ill, but I only had a fever and the butt piss for 2 days. The fever broke this morning. I still feel like I got run over by a truck, but I am on the rebound

The course I grew up playing has on course out of bounds on #10 & #16. But with the local rule that it only applies to the first shot.

 

#10 is an uphill severe dogleg left par 4. It is only like 310 to the front edge as the crow flies, but the ideal line takes you right over #15 green and #16 tee. The normal play is to hit a 4 or 5-iron to the dogleg and that will leave you anywhere from 150 to 190 in depending on how far left you keep it. In scrambles or best ball matches though it was bombs away. I've almost been beamed a few times standing on 15 green during scrambles.

 

 

 

#16 is a dogleg right that runs parallel to #15. Oddly, 15 is OB from 16 tee but 16 is not OB from 15 tee. The OB stops about 75 yards from the green though and if you hit it far enough you can get past the stakes. This caused a few arguments on whether or not someone was past the stakes or not.

 

 

 

And yes it is SLOW at work this morning.

That hole #10 is exactly like a 9 holer by me. 130 yards uphill to hard dogleg left. and then 170sh to green. Cutting the corner goes right over #1 tee box. #1 dumbest hole Iv ever played. Don't know how to post layout pics. Willow Valley golf course, beautiful Lancaster County PA

Wish I could play tomorrow! I actually have to work unfortunately. What's up with these whiskey and waverly outings? Open to newcomers? Meeting up with "misplacedtex" tomorrow after work to try out some callaway irons. Excited!

 

Played 27 at whiskey today from blues (full disclosure). Balls were plugging so bad that we lost one in the middle of the fairway. Cart path only. Windy and cold but wiiiiide open only a few groups on the course. Sandy slow greens. Played back 9, front 9 front 9. 48-42-37. I'm a teenage hdc for sure and that 37 was from another world. Can't wait to get out again this weekend.

What's the lowest score you WILL shoot this year?

 

DT: 74. I don't really plan on practicing, I do plan on playing even less, so basically the same as this past season. Usually good for a couple mid-low 70s round a season.

Was great to get 12 holes in yesterday. Not really working on anything right now other than fitness and just maintaining status quo until Spring. Just so everyone knows, we're getting The Hive to be an official club. The Vernal Equinoxious and the Trolls Riding Unicorns are going to be Hive events. Hopefully we're an official club by then, and we're going to be sending out information about the club when we know more.

 

We already have a tournament slate ready for the year. Some events you're familiar with, and maybe a new one or two that look like they're going to be fun and/or exhausting.

Nice playing! Lots of us play from the blues or (gasp!) white tees. No big deal, unless you're debating the scoring differentials for 14/18 rounds at 80 or below.
