Where are you playing tomorrow - Chicago (Round2)

I noticed that Ravisloe has a $15 Hot Deal for the 10 am slot tomorrow and Sunday. All four spots are still open each day if you have $15 burning a hole in your pocket. The forecast appears to be getting slightly worse, but at least the winds will have died down for the most part.

Sanctuary tomorrow. I'm sure conditions will be bad but they're still on Winter rates.

I got out at Sanctuary today and, despite all the rain and low temps, there was only standing water and ice on three of the 18 holes. Tee to green, it was in pretty good shape, though the greens were frozen in some spots and thawing in others. That's to be expected since sun exposure varies. I drove the ball well and figured out where to land my wedges. Putting was also decent, since my lag putting is much better with a regular 35 inch putter than with my counterbalance. I dropped in a few long ones, including one from way off the green on 9. I shot a 75 and played in two-and-a-half hours. Good to be back on the course essentially right where I left off.

Hmmm, it's not looking good for Ravisloe this morning. I drove down to Flossmoor for breakfast, and it was snowing south of the Cal Sag. There's a good half inch of snow on the ground. If it does manage to melt quickly, it's going to be a soggy mess. I may wind up hitting good ol Jackson Park on the way back downtown if this doesn't pan out. F$cking weathermen.

That sucks.

I thought about going out to Whisper Creek today, but decided to wait another week.

You know it's a swampy mess everywhere and I hate overly soft conditions.

Who needs to pay $750 to have a course to oneself when there's Jackson Park for $20? Lol. I know, it's overpriced. I was the first one out, and the only one out that I could tell. I didn't see another player until I reached the 14th tee, and saw a group hitting on the par 3 6th. There was a lone coyote on the course. I saw it on the 15th fairway, and then it cross Jeffrey and roamed around the 7th - 12th holes for a while. 'Didn't seem to be stalking the geese, though.

The course was in playable shape. The greens were slow, but in very nice condition. Of course there was a carpet bomb of dry goose sh*t on practically every fairway. Thank goodness it wasn't wet. When the sun popped out, it was quite a pleasant morning. 'Felt good to finally get out and walk a round.

Ballstriking was decent with the driver, but with a few too many layers of clothing, I felt like I was swinging my irons in a straightjacket. 'Only managed 8 greens. Six scrambles kept the round away from the embarrassing category.

I just laugh at people who think about paying $750 to have the course to themselves. I had Sanctuary to myself yesterday morning and I paid $15.

Hitting St Andrews tomorrow before heading to Scottsdale on Friday. Will be good to get out.

Played Lakeside today. It's surprisingly dry with the exception of 16 and 18. You're not going to get a ton of roll and the greens need some tidying up but for March 17, it wasn't all bad.

Cartpath only? No carts allowed?

Id like to get out there sometime this summer. I was going to go last year, they had a tee times for $29 online but required 2 people to book it. Called them up and they wouldn’t honor that rate for a single, was going to charge $49 for it so I skipped it. How is it?

Yea, we felt for the middle of March conditions were not bad at all. Greens were definitely slow, but it was fun throwing darts into them with the wedge and getting it to immediately stop.

Was good to get out today. After our cart broke down on 4 or 5 they brought us out a covered one and was nice and toasty in there watching the players while waiting for the slow group in front of us.

You must have been in the outing? Saw lots of guys with green dyed beards. Hmmm. They haven't been able to do much with the greens so far. Lots of hops and bumps along the way.

We played in just over 3:45 which was amazing for that course anytime of year. We saw the group in front of us tee off and then they were basically gone. The threesome behind us was never on our butts so it was really nice to just hit the ball and go. It was a touch brisk at the end but it was just pants and a windshirt. Don't get me wrong, I'll take the warmer temps any time now but this was definitely OK.

Yesterday, we got out to Sanctuary.   The weather was nice and the conditions were actually pretty decent - first day they allowed carts in the fairway.  Couple wet spots here and there, and some of the green side bunkers were muddy, but most of them were just fine (found out the hard way on way too many occasions).

Couple of the tee boxes were still frozen solid, and the greens were obviously pretty slow and bumpy, but it’s March, so.....   Got there just in time (2 of us) - a foursome that was teeing off on first let us through, and we pretty much zoomed through in 2.5 hrs.  The course got pretty “packed” after us, so we got lucky there.  Played like donkey, but that’s to be expected.  Most likely Cog on Sunday.

The website has coupons that are the same as their online booking prices.

It must be printed though.

Just phone in as a single.

Or just show up whenever like me.

As for the course, I love it.

-Challenging, but fair.

-Conditions are typically good.

-Only weakness is the bunkers (they're either dried up clay or filled with water).

I love that I can switch tee boxes and get a completely different experience on half the holes.

Imo, it's the best course you can play around here for the price they charge.

The fact that I can get from my desk to the clubhouse in under twenty minutes doesn't hurt either.

Just got back from Palm Springs last night. I think it may have replaced Scottsdale as my favorite desert location. Played 5 round in 2.5 days basically. Top 2 courses I played were PGA West Stadium where they hold the desert classic PGA tournament and Classic Club. Firecliff was very good too.

Played Fox Bend today. Course is in OK conditions. Not a lot of maintenance done so far. Lots of downed branches and waste throughout. Fairways were relatively dry except 10 and 1 or two others. Greens were frozen about half an inch down. Bunkers were actually in good condition. The bar wasn't open...what's up with that. Range was mats only, not a surprise for this time of year. $18 walking...tough to beat that. Finished in 4 hours which was very nice.
