That was a three club wind out there today.

Somehow it was in my face for 15 holes.

at an uphill par three, my partner lamented the shortness of my effort.

said 'why didn't you club up to account for the wind and temperature?'

I 'm thinking - 'it's twenty eight degrees and I'm trying to swing a three iron....shaddap'

I hear you.

159 yard par three into the wind.

Probably 145 to the front.

I hit my 190 club flush only to fall three feet short of the green.

It was a tough day, but I still loved it.

I booked the first tee time on Saturday at Wilmette. Now let's hope the weatherman is even close to correct.

> Just finished at Cog 3. Course is in rough shape (understandably). Got around in 3:45 as a 5-some. The greens are rolling solid 5 - couldn’t hit the ball hard enough and almost every tee ball was plugged in fairway/rough. Only 1 birdie, few loose shots here and there resulted in 76.

I played #3 on the 20th and was told I was the only one out there. Temps were in the high 40s and it was cloudy. I agree that every shot plugged. I couldn't find 2 of my drives that were in the fairway! That was to be expected though. I was just happy to get out there. Once it started to mist on the 12th and my drive was lost in the fairway again I turned around and walked out.

Hey - not sure if this is the appropriate place for this, but I wanted to see if anyone here would be interested in checking out an 18-hole (local) traveling men's league. We play 7 Sundays per season (usually around noon) and hit a variety of courses in the Chicago area, mostly in the south and west burbs. Lot of details to share, but high level:

>$155 per year: all money gets paid back out based on weekly rankings, par 3s, and season rankings

>Handicaps for league rounds maintained by the league

>USGA rules: play it as it lies, putt everything out, etc.

>Wide range of hcps: from about 7 to 30

>Good guys, current age range between 30-70; most in 30-50 range

If you're interested in learning more, PM me so we can sync up and see if it might be a good mutual fit.

Tale of two rounds at Prairie Bluff. Sunny skies and crappy swings on the front 9 after running from lot to tee. Overcast and wind on the back, but shot 6 strokes better. Course was in pretty good shape and very playable, despite shaggy greens.

Edit: pic didn’t load

First ever round at Sportsmans in Northbrook; will likely be my last even though I know it is hard to predict the future. One of the more forgettable courses I have ever played. I think at least seven of the par 4's were EXACTLY the same. It got to the point where I walked up to the next tee box and thought I had already played the hole. Conditions were blah. I know it is early but Poplar and Hilldale fairways/greens blew this away. Bar/lounge area not open yet for the season was the icing on the cake :) There are too many options around that are better for $54, especially at this time of the year. Just my opinion of course...

Heck you could play Stonewall Orchard right now for that price and it's in pretty good shape!

Exactly, so many good options in our geographical area. Another good one is Mistwood, which does not open until next week but you can book now for $50 starting Thursday. That is an absolute steal.

Makray on Saturday and The Brassie on Sunday. Hopefully the rain holds off until my morning rounds are over, but I'm not optimistic. The problem with Spring golf in the Midwest possibly rears its ugly head.

Yeah it was $55 up through this week I believe. I had an email. Looks like it's gone up for this next weekend. I don't think I'll be playing no matter what. Baby H made an early appearance yesterday morning! ?9titu8on5x27.jpg
