Where are you playing tomorrow - Chicago (Round2)

BS is at least 50k initiation but the annual fees are relatively cheap as in under 10k for the year. Heard they're thinking of raising them due to some bunker projects and cart paths and such. Still a deal for men's only golf only just nowhere near anything.

Only $3,500ish "yearly" initiation. So basically $3500 yearly dues and nothing else for up to age 37. Great deal. Naperville CC also runs a good "Jr" deal. Not as good of a course as Black Sheep, but obviously location wise much easier to get to.

Not so sure that is accurate- May have been a test a couple years ago, but i don’t believe it is still valid.

That is what I was told at the end of last year by Jeff the GM at Blacksheep. So up until last year it was that at the very least. It does say 2018, but clubs are trying to get younger members all over, not sure why they would stop it.

This was from this december, emailed from them as well. So it seems to be the same deal.

dhartmann you mentioned before you go to Golf in Motion. I am thinking about starting the spring off with a lesson. I found a groupon for $70 that includes a swing assessment and lesson. Was wondering if you had done this (swing assessment) and what it entails.

John Elliott who I use to work with would fly up from Florida monthly but has recently retired. So Looking for something, I rarely go, but I have been hitting the ball awful at the dome and wouldn't mind getting looked at before playing multiple times a week. Not looking to make any drastic swing changes or tear down what I have to start over.

I told my fiance after practicing today if I had a bad year I may give up golf.....the range session earlier obviously didn't go well lol.

Telling a Fiance that you may give up golf IS A REALLY BAD Idea, told my wife of nine years when we first started dating that I was burned out of golf. Now I have the bug bad again I keep hearing " I thought you were burned out of golf"

Ha, well she is a golfer, a better one than me as well. So it was more of, "shut up, that isn't happening" reply.

MCI,

I have found the 1st step is asking the golfer what type of teaching they think they will best respond to...analytical vs tactile for instance...do you what angles & numbers, or do you want to be shown "hands-on" what needs to be changed. Sometimes a playing lesson is a great option...swing + strategy + mental

Not too many out there can do both, so I've recommended teaching pros based on potential compatibility.

Completely agree with this. That is key. I had someone I liked a lot, that would just tinker with a couple of things when I lost it a bit and get me back to where I needed to be. I have also gone to someone who wanted to completely change everything and relearn golf. I am not a great golfer, but I am not bad. A few under par rounds here and there, mostly in the mid-high 70s now. Not going to win any PGA tournaments anytime soon, I just need to occasionally be steered in the right direction. I am also a big time feel player, as opposed to being a big technical player. I can usually get things sorted out by actually playing and getting off the range.

Trying to find that fit.

Sorry I missed this before.

I actually started with a groupon and got hooked from there. He broke down my current swing and how he thought I could improve...and then we started at part 1, where he thought the issues stemmed from. After the first lesson, I wanted to continue on and I bought a package of lessons.

Key will be making sure you mesh with him and that you plan to work on what comes from the lesson. He gives you a video and overview of each lesson and what to work on.

I usually schedule my lessons a few months apart. Last year I went 10 months in between which was a huge mistake on my part but now I'm getting back in order.

I'd highly suggest trying the Groupon and giving it a go. I've really enjoyed my lessons so far and so have others I have referred his way.

Thanks, I think I will. Going to see how next week in Palm Springs goes. I can usually get things working with a couple rounds, so we will see.

The one thing I will say is that you usually have to give some lead time in booking with Tim... He only does Sunday on the weekends. Weekdays are obviously more open, but I usually have to book a month or more out for a Sunday spot. So if you're going to book for when you're back, I'd contact him now.

This is too easy...aren't the majority of Sunday's on the weekends??? Is this like new math or something.

Sorry DH.

Anyone ever play Canyata? Top 100 course in the country and I have never met anyone that has played there. 3 hours south of Chicago.

Beautiful course but their greens fees are something outrageous...think over $500/person.

That's crazy!! I just saw $750!!

$500 for 24+ guests.

Wow...hadn't looked in a couple of years but that's crazy.
