... 36, nice! Some complain about par 3's being the same length which is irrelevant to my opinion of the course. I teed off from the back tees on the 3's and the drops were truly spectacular. We don't get those kind of elevation changes in Chicago so I really enjoyed all 3 of those par 3's from around 220yds.

Actually, I'll head to St Andrews at 497. I'm booked at the Castle course on Tuesday, and St Andrews on Wednesday. I'll be looking to book #498 in the area for the Monday. If someone offered Chicago CC as #500, I don't think I could make it back to Chicago in time after playing the Castle course.

Thanks! They had one room left for 169 a night, so I went ahead and reserved it. I'll look elsewhere, and cancel if needed, but I don't think I'm going to find a whole lot cheaper at this point.

I am considering a trip to Scotland in late July (the only time I can go). Never been. It would be me and my wife who does not golf, but I would be allowed to get several rounds in. Not sure if I want to do the famous/pricey courses or go to some off the beaten path. Have you been before?

No, this is my first trip across the pond. I'm sure you could find a few cheaper courses to play on short notice. As a single though you're options are limited. You could always show up early on the day of play, and hope for a cancellation.

Right. I tried booking rounds on St Andrew's New and Jubilee courses, but they told me no because they don't book singles.

In my experience there, I was able to walk on to both the New and Jubilee. Both courses are very much worth it! Enjoy your trip, it's magical.

T minus 3 days till Florida trip. Tallest midget contest, aka Polonia Open. Can’t wait to chip on the Bermuda grass (said no one ever). There will be around 130 players from all over US, Canada, and Europe (mostly Poland). We’ll be playing 2 private courses - The fountains CC in Lake Worth and Indian Spring in Boynton Beach. I wasn’t going to go this year, but wife “insisted” I go - she’s definitely up to something.

the GS at Rosemont was a good time to catch up with friends.

found my new shoes and a decent pair of foul weather pants.

didn't seem to have the usual amount of better apparel as in years past.

saw three rainsuits in large and never heard of the brand. Mc-something.

two sellers didn't have any.

 

Golf Digest didn't have a booth and their free mag was a nice perk for the ticket price.

we gave all the free golf coupons to our guy from Lake County who is recovering from his hit with leukemia.

 

Sand Valley was represented. nice booklet to drool over and maybe plan a trip with.

spoke to the GM of Sunset Valley. said they may extend resident rates to NBK players while our course is being renovated.

 

travel destinations giving out bags of tees and poker chips.

Western Golf Association booth had some great driver and putter covers from last years BMW at Arominink for dirt cheap.

the CDGA gift for renewal was a tube of balls, tees and glove.

 

one of our guys found the shaft he's been looking for - so he could match his driver and three wood.

seller agreed to break down a Cobra fairway to make the deal. Tensei something. he was quite pleased.

 

and of course - the bagpipes.

... Bummer. I wish I could brag about the Phoenix sunshine but we had snow and sleet 2 days ago. Locals say it is the coldest winter they can remember. Jan/Feb has been a bust so far. Not Chicago of course but not normal Arizona weather either.

So I signed up for CDGA membership and posted a couple scores from Scottsdale. For whatever reason, they show up in "rounds played" but they aren't showing up for my handicap. And it says 0 year to date rounds posted. Anyone know anything about this? This app and website is complete trash compared to the GHIN handicap app/website, just awful. When it is "in" season do you have to write out the courses you played and find the slope/rating and manually put that in as well, or is that an off season thing? That is archaic if so.
