Where are you playing tomorrow - Chicago (Round2)

Does everyone here use CDGA to keep track of their handicap? I have a GHIN handicap (usga), that I have had through my club back home in St. Louis for years, I just renew, and you have to get it through a club. But this year I was going to switch over. I wanted to negotiate it in the price of my membership at the new course. But it looks like with CDGA you just do it on your own and sign up online, you don't have to go through a course and have a "home" course? Is that correct?

Yea that's correct. You will be asked to assign a course to your handicap, but it doesn't mean anything, you just post your scores on the app most likely. I just pick a course that is near me. If you sign up for events it will show your affiliated course sometimes.

Some public courses will include the CDGA handicap fee at a lower rate in their annual membership card. I know Forest Preserve does, and I will be doing that this year at Village Links.

or you can sign up directly with CDGA without any member club affiliation...

called CDGA Member Club

$40 for 1 year and $70 for two

Or, as mentioned above, you can find either golf courses or others that may offer CDGA handicap packaged in another deal

Was going to hit the golf show next weekend, but I slipped and fell on ice on Sunday and broke my arm. Winter truly sucks.

Hopefully, will be back on the course come April. If we have our usual crap spring weather, I might get lucky and not miss too much.

If anyone is looking to pick up a bag, Costco has several models and colors of the Under Armour stand or cart bag in stock for $99.00. If there weren't 4 bags in the golf club room, 2 in the garage and 3 in the basement, I'd be in the market.

Only about 6 weeks late, but good effort.

Knew they were available on line...hadn't seen them in the store. If they were close to the Apothic Red, I'd have seen them for sure.

... Finally had a chance to play Quintero. Waaaaaay out in the desert and the middle of nowhere so spectacular views on almost every hole. This par 3 was 220yds and at least a 200 foot drop. I hit a 5 iron over the green. Played the course at 6600 combo tees but played all the par 3's from the tips that had no tees because of the extreme drops and epic views. Quintero is most definitely my favorite course in Phoenix and I look forward to playing it again when it gets hot in April. (I don't know why it keeps coming out upside down so my apologies)

The main beef with Quintero is that the par 3s all play basically the same length. All have great views from the elevated tees. I played a 7 iron if I recall. Otherwise a very fine layout.

... I stepped in a grass hole and turned my ankle causing me to miss 3 days of golf. Felt a little sorry for myself with my ankle wrapped in an ice pack but that didn't last long and now feel even luckier after hearing about your arm. Sorry my man that really does suck. But much better now than in June. I hope you heal quickly.

... Tough crowd. With those spectacular views and each green uniquely different as well as different back drops I never even considered 3 of them being basically the same length. If that were a factor for me, I would just vary the tees and play them all at a different lengths. I have not played as many courses as you have but certainly played my share all over the country and all factors considered, Quintero is easily in my top 5.

Bunch of good views there. But all of the par 3s are the same length and all of the par 4s a mundane straight with bunkers. Great condition good views, which are both important to me. But I understand course snobs saying it isn't a good course because the layout is average at best. I'd take it though, not over We-ko-pa Seguro or Ak-Chin Southern Dunes.

I got to play 36 on Quintero last Monday. I can't think of a better conditioned course that I've played. Great views and challenging holes. Loved the course.
