PING has decided to make the stock shaft .25" longer as stnaderd to be with the industry standard for modern players irons.

PING has also decided the stock set is now Blue color code, as this is also moving more closer to industry standard. Lie angels stay the same, but rack sets will be blue dot.

Hit them with CFS X Stiff and Modus 105 Stiff. Modus felt really great. Haven't seen the 105 before but I really liked it. Chose the Modus 105 stiff hard stepped once.

Head looks great. Looks small from address than the i25, which I have played for the last 18 months. Sole is slightly thinner, but this may just be the grind on it though.

The finish looks GREAT! the face of the club is nice and slightly darker then the rest of the club and looks wonderful.

There's blue on it!!! Get over it...

8 club set it $999.

That's about it I think. I did not take pictures out of respect for the shop. Pre orders go in around the 20th of this month and sets are arriving the 31st of July.

CFS, Modus 105, and S300 are all stock offerings. I do not know if there are more options available with no upcharge.

Yea, identical markings, except the "105" of course.

I also tried looking them up and found nothing at all.

The other big thing I noticed and forgot to mention, was that the offset is blended into the club wonderfully! Not nearly as noticable. I do not know if there is more/less offset then i25, but it looks less.

I just hit an iE 7-iron fitting demo, with the Modus 105 (s).... I have to say it is a sweet feeling combo. I haven't hit a Ping iron since G2 or so. For a non-forged head, it is very soft feeling, even with an intentional heel/toe hit. The top line and offset are quite compact, in between an i25 and a anser/s55. Definitely not hard to look at on address. But the NS shaft is the star. So damn smooth and easy to load. I just have to save my pennies up until 8/17... Which is when I was told the head would be public. My next set for sure.

If you could, how would you compare the IE to the G2 in terms of feel, forgiveness, etc.?

Honestly, it has been YEARS since I hit the g2, but I'd say this is quite a bit softer feeling across the face. LGS guy said they are a 425 steel. Softer feel than the Cobra Flyz pro forged I was hitting, and according to the simulator, a club+ longer. Misses weren't far off line on the sim either, whereas the FlyZ misses were more dispersed. I hit about 25 ProV's with each.

Have any of you that have demoed the irons been informed of specs? Hope they still stuck with a 46° PW and didn't jack lofts like other OEMs.

Also, it's too bad KBS Tours will still be an upcharge as those are my favorite shafts. Not a huge fan of lightweight shafts in irons (tried a few over the years).

G2 is more forgiving in terms of size and offset but IE will be fine for anyone up to say a 14-16 hcp. Definitely smaller in appearance so if you need the confidence of the larger head size I'd go g30. Gmax is awful looking imho (the Karsten replacement).

Can someone describe the finish? Tts difficult to tell from pics. Is it a tumble finish or brushed finish similar to the early S series irons?

I called golfsmith a and they finally had demos I quickly drove there before closing. I took a ton of pictures on my phone. I literally saw no difference from Rollins and heel toe. Call me crazy. Huge difference in finish. Imo the finish was more like g30 then s55. A major improvement from the i25 finish. The blue was very subtle. It definitely doesn't bother me I actually like it. For performance first few shots weren't great then I started "feeling it". The 7 iron was going an aveage of 173 yds carry and total avg dist 182. Club head speed was 83.4. I'll try to post pictures later. I think I will buy them. Will need to get fitted. Golfsmith didn't have modus shafts there. CFs stiff shaft was used. Hope this helps.
