Vokey SM6's

I ordered a 60s and a 54s the other day in steel grey.

I wish they made a 54k, then I would go 54k and 60m. That would be perfect

You can order a 54K through Wedgeworks. It's the wedge that I'm playing and I love it. It has 10* of bounce instead of the 12 on the SM6 lob wedges, but the wide sole has been working fantastically for my game.

Does anyone have a pic after they stripped the black and some rust has set in? From my understanding I can't get a 50 with more bounce than 8? If I bent a 52 to 50 then bounce would be 6 correct? I may have to get a black and strip it then purchase my other two from wedgeworks. I just wanna know how the rust is looking for you guys that stripped them

Quick question...eyeballing a set up right now of 50, 54 and 58. I am looking at 50 F and 58 S but am unsure of which grind to get for the 54. I am between 54F and 54S. I would be using this club primarily for longer pitch shots (40-60 yards) and out of the sand. Which grind would be better? I don't like the wide sole on the K and I think the M is too low on bounce for the courses I play

I did not try the 54F, but tried the 54M half shots, and the shots around the green I could not get the little bit of roll out that I was used to

Changed over to the 54S. Have two rounds on it, and like the S better.

Hello,

I am currently playing 54.08(spin milled) and 60 588(cleveland) and i want to change my 54 for sm6 52.08F and a 56 (more distance options on full shots PW being 47º)

My question is, does the grind makes a big difference between a 56.08S or a 56.F?

I have read some complains about the S grind

My home course is played in soft turf normally and I'm not a sweeper, but I am scared of seeing the leading edge up since I use low bounce wedges currently.

Any other recommendations on wedge setup?

thanks!

If you're used to low bounce and play well with that, then just stick with it...at least, that's what I did. I play in all kinds of different conditions and am mostly a sweeper, but I prefer as little bounce as possible because that's what I'm used to and what I prefer. I played a 60' SM w/ 4' bounce for a couple of years, then upgraded to an M grind SM5 60' with 8' bounce, but I could never fully get used to it and went to a L grind SM6 60' with 4' bounce this month and love it more.

That being said you should at least try out a higher-bounce option just to see if you like it better and/or if it works better for you. Hopefully that's an option you have.

All depends on your skill opening the face of a wedge. I used higher bounce Miura 53.9 and 60.11/10* wedges for about a year. Though I can make higher bounce wedges work, I realized they just didn't suite my diverse needs. I learned the game opening up low 2* bounce wedges to get bounce.

For that reason I went with 52.08 F. Use it for full shots to 105yds, as well as long 30yd+ bunker shots, opening the face various degrees when needed. Also Have 58.08 M. Use it for all sorts of bunker shots, hard and soft sand to 30yrds, and all sorts of shots inside of 75yds. But especially like it for tight lies and hard pan, and opening the face up makes it effective in sloppy conditions.

Choosing wedge profiles in hopes of masking marginal wedge skill is a recipe for bad shots. Choose wedges knowing you're going to practice a lot, get better and make them work in all conditions.

i have the 60 (4 - L grind) and the 54 (8 - M grind). I had a 54 S grind bent to 55 but found that my distance gapping was better with the 54 M grind. I have to say that the M grind in the 54 has really helped on the intermediate length bunker shot.

The M grind just glides through the sand like a knife and throws the ball onto the surface nicely. It really helps on those 25 - 35 yard bunker shots.

I will probably add a 48 - 50 degree gap this winter to replace my Ping G25 U wedge.

50.F, 54.S, 58.S for me. Chrome finish. KBS HiRev 2.0 Stiff shafts. Haven't had chance to hit them in the course yet, due to having done my back in again. But should be able to get back out on the course in about a weeks' time. We'll see how they go.

How do the Vokeys perform with the KBS Shaft? Night and day from the wedge flex?

Maybe. But if you only play once a week and can't practice, then I'm choosing something with a lot of bounce!

Fine. But lots of bounce doesn't necessary mean it will work effectively. Good luck. :beach:

It doesn't have to be effective for me. Just not catastrophic. I'm so steep, with no bounce to bail me out occasionally I'll fold me a nice little divot over the ball.

Of course, none of this matters if your prefer to pitch from the hosel...

Did anyone had any issues with glare and the steel grey finish?

Not at all, no glare for me. I like the steel grey, seems to be a nice finish between the black and chrome.

anyone rocking the 46* as a pitching wedge instead of the PW that came with their set? See any distance loss? I like the theory of all wedges being the same. Running the JPX 900 Forged so would have it bent to 45*. Thoughts?

I had a 48* which was the same as my ap2 pw and I did notice a bit of a distance loss, I think it was spinning more and I couldn't control traj as well.

Edit: That was sm5 though not sm6, and the loss was only ~4 yards

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not too concerned with 3 yards. I would be more concerned with something like 10+.
