I agree, they are very similar, but the MP5 has just a touch thinner top line than the MP25. I'm looking forward to testing the MP5 against the 716CB and comparing the looks, feel, and forgivenesses.

That's what I was assuming would be the case, but it it will be interesting to see if it holds true

Has anyone hit the 25 and the 5 side by side to see if there is a difference in distance? I'm strongly considering MP-25 3-5 iron and MP-5 6-pw. I just don't want a big gap between my 5 and 6 iron.

714 CB's, IMOP are a higher launching Blade, they got some interesting tech built into them now.

Ordered mine weeks ago so should be coming soon....

Was wondering about same dilemma where mp-5 split into mp25.....mine will be at 6 iron....I already figured an easy solution if there is a gap in distance though...I'll just bend em weaker...I wanted the mp25 for height not so much for forgiveness. ......but am sure with a lil bending in the lofts I can get em to flow nicely with one another.......am gaming mp64 now and have no issue with forgiveness but I do hit mid and long irons too low so some height would be good for me

I hit them side by side on GC2 and didn't see a huge difference on flushed shots. ~3-4 yards and 1-2 mph ball speed increase with the respective 6 irons.

I would believe so at this juncture, though full disclosure I haven't hit the 716 CB's as of yet. The old 714 CB and 712's CB, are what got me (well and MP63 ) in blades, loved those clubs but to be honest, they where IMOP no more forgiving than a MB 712, 714 etc, but launched higher. At least my testing, the dispersion was similar, flight was the difference, hence, I got the MB

Though this year, I feel there is some more tech baked into the 716 CB(heavier tungsten weight on the perimeter should offer more forgiveness) , and NOT that I am saying this is a good gauge, appears the 716 CB's are in several bags already on Tour.

Hit both for 40 minutes. The MP 25 was not sig longer. 3 yds max. The biggest difference was feel. The MP 5 has the traditional Mizuno forged feel. Almost identical to my MP 69. The MP 25 does have a harder impact feel.

Tried the MP-5 6 iron in a Golfsmith simulator today. Hit maybe 50 balls, it was empty in there. It was the fitting head so I plugged in a KBS Tour S.

Quick impressions: Extremely consistent results, considerably more forgiving than the MP-4 on small misses, especially thin. The muscle is meaty and low. Top line definitely thicker than MP-4, toe seems a little more square, away from some of the "rounder" shapes Mizuno has made. Gorgeous mid-high trajectory with a normal swing, but it also had another gear higher and was easy to knock down. Definitely less curve than MP-4. Can't stress enough how consistent the distance control was! Feel was outstanding - solid and responsive. A better MP-32? These are gonna be popular.

I'm in the market for new irons, and I think it's down to the MP-5 and the Hogan FW15. Tough choices in life. ;-)

I have hit the mp25's and mp5's side by side full sets at a range for about an hour last night and walked away with a combo set. I was really impressed with the mp25 for the longer irons just for a bit of forgiveness and height. The mp5's in the lower are just awesome. I didn't notice anything huge in distance difference just 'felt' as though the 25's were easier to hit in the longer irons. Now just waiting for them to be made and delivered.

Am happy to answer any questions anyone has.

Had a fitting today and hit the MP-5 and MP-25, as well as the 714CB and MB.

Coming from 14 year old MP33's and looking for a little more forgiveness..

Averages across 10 shots with each found the MP-25 gave 2mph more ball speed than MP33. The Titleists were similar but spun up a little more and for some reason i was consistently a few mph down on club head speed on both with a variety of shafts, so discounted them... possibly as the swing weights felt lighter and i was stalling to stop hands outracing the body.. who knows)

But the shocker was that the MP-5 actually gave me 3 mph more ball speed! Better smash (1.42) than anything else at like for like club speed! (90mph)

Spin was down a tad (4300 vs 4500) and launch was down a little versus the MP-25 (0.3*) yet peak height was 103ft, 5ft higher than MP-25. But i could knock the MP-5 down far easier.

Interesting results, and although the forgiveness was hard to tell as it was only a 6i and i was hitting it decently, certainly preferred the feel of the MP-5. Buttery like i'm used to whereas the MP-25 certainly felt a little more 'poppy' off the face. But not unpleasant by any means, and coming off so long with the 33's.. i'm biased to a certain feel.
May go back to try a few more shaft options but almost certainly ordering a split set with MP-25 3,4 & 5.

Sajohnson- I am in the same boat but haven't hit either the mp5's or the FW15s... I am curious if you hit both and what you think of the comparison between the two .... I am coming off mp32s
[/quote]

I've only hit the MP-5 that once in the 6 iron, but have been demoing a 3 club set of the Hogans - 31 (6), 43 (9), 55 (S) for the last 3 weeks. They have a 30 day program, you just pay the shipping. I recommend it if you're looking into a set. Contact their customer service they'll point you to the right person.

I also played the MP-32s for about 4 years when they came out. Anyway... hard to really compare based on such a limited experience with the MP-5, but I think these are both filling a similar niche, which is a slightly bigger, "forgiving" blade. If you've read the reviews on the Hogans around here, I think they're pretty spot on. They're great clubs. I think the Mizuno wins on feel, especially if that's what you're used to. I'm really starting to love the v-sole grind on the Hogan and the progressive cavity. Pretty cool to be able to pick your lofts and set makeup, too. Both clubs produce very consistent distances. Shape and toplines are fairly similar, Hogan maybe a little rounder overall. I honestly think the MP-5 might be more forgiving.

Can you tell I'm having a hard time deciding? ;-) I don't think you can go wrong.

MP33 classic of classic sticks, not sure if you factored in your testing but the lofts on your MP33 are going to be a 1* or 2 weaker than the newer stuff. If you really want a true test, and club builder can bend your MP33 to the new loft and take it back when your done testing so you have apples to apples.

Do forget, a combo set of MP4 with MP5's in the long

Good assessment here. I felt the exact same way when I was deciding on 712 CB vs. MB. I didn't find that the CB was any more forgiving, but that it changed the ball flight a touch. I ended up going CB and am thinking combo set CB/MB or maybe Mizzy 25/5 for next year.

I did their swing analysis machine which gave three options for me to try. KBS tour X- DGx100 and project x 6.5. I just liked the dynamic gold so went with that. The fitting cart had all the shaft upgrade options.
