Somehow neither of the drivers I ordered have shown up and I've played 4 of the last 5 days, frustrating! I moved my tee time today back past the usual delivery time at my club in hopes one does.

 

Sorry, no sympathy here :-)

 

I'd trade places with you in a second. I'd much rather be playing and waiting for my driver to show up, than have my new driver in hand and be waiting for a place to play to open up.

 

Oh well. One local course might open up 9 tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. Definitely be a record early opening for this part of the world so can't complain too much.

 

Stuart! Windham CC, Hoodkroft, Amherst CC, Candia Woods and a few others have been open. Certainly depending on where you are that may be an issue, but they are open!

 

Thanks. Yes, those are a bit of a trip (I'm about an hour north west from Concord) but a group of us are planning a road trip down to Candia Woods tomorrow. One more local course should have 9 holes open today and another may open with temp greens so we're getting real close.

 

Hear any news from the S. Maine course? Ledges, Links at Outlook, etc.. I find myself down that way on occasion.

As most may know I work in a Pro Shop as an Assistant pro and had a WRXer today recognize me from the Gear Trials haha

 

Imagine my surprise when a stranger says "Hey you're BruinsPats from GolfWRX!" It was pretty funny. Had a good conversation with the guy, small world!

 

You know for how often I play as a single, as much as the people I am paired with are not from charleston, and how charleston is a "destination" ish place for golf, I have yet to run into a wrxer. I've only asked certain ones. Usually the guys that seem to be into it as much as I am haha or the ones that are good players. Have only met a few and that was on the low country outing I put together a couple years ago. Need to try doing that again........

Definitely would be fun to get together some time for a round. I doubt I'll go down to Hudson, I usually wait for the demo day up here at the W. Lebanon Golf + Ski but you never know.

Couldn't resist it anymore... Went ahead and order AD DI 7X for my g30 ls tec.

 

Never hit it before, but based off these results I figured I need to give it a shot. Found a pretty cheap one on eBay.

 

Can't wait for it to come in.

Forgive me as I wasn't there but I totally understand why single digits were invited.

 

These guys hit so many balls as it was. Imagine how many more balls a higher handicapper would need to hit since you'll be throwing out the mis hits. It's not a time issue but also an endurance issue.

 

As far as swing speed? Well how many single digit guys are going to be teeing it up from the whites because they are only swinging it 70-80mph? L

 

So that is your dillema. Find a slower swing speed on a guy who might be a higher handicap who can stripe it down the middle and not get fatigued after 100 driver swings.

I lose a lot of shots from the tee ether due to penalties or chipping out

I know the guy gets a lot of flack, but Hank Haney really keeps it simple. Eliminate penalties off the tee, two-chips and three putts. sounds simple, but if you go out with that simple focus the game gets easier.

 

I'm one of those guys who doesn't hit the fairway often. I hit it far and in play. The short game will save you so much. That is why I'm always on the hunt for that driver that can help me hit fairways without losing too much distance. Here's hoping for 2017!

I hear you. If it wasn't for my short game some days I would throw up a 90-spot! Thankfully I have some softhands and the ability to manufacture some pretty cool shots around the green. My buddies always give me crap because I somehow make what they deem the "Sullivan Par"

My short game is pretty decent for the most part. I don't III put that often unless I'm just having a really off day. Chip and wise I'm usually at least within 10 feet my good days I'm chipping and putting for about four. But it's very hard to save car when you have to either in three from the tee or drop a ball. Or I'm shipping out of nonsense and I still have 100 and so yards to the green. Hit the green I too putt for bogey, miss Green I chip and hopefully one pot for bogey so a lot of bogey golf for me

That is a really good shaft, it was one of the shafts that fitted my swing the best, very stiff all the way through, very stable and promotes tighter dispersion (depending on the swing of course), congrats!!!!!

OK. New driver is finally in play and working great! Sorry can't regale you with tales of distance. First day of the season on a course for me and one I've never played before - so no reference to 'normal' approach distances. Cold swing coupled with cool temps and lots of wind so didn't bother with measuring the distances. Can't say I stripped every one but except for one over-hooked toe hit on a provisional (I didn't end up needing) it kept me well in play and out of trouble. It turned out to be probably one the more dependable clubs in the bag for the day (except maybe the putter) - which is not something I'm definitely NOT used to :-) So extremely happy with it.

 

Now - who else is ready for a 2016 fairway gear trials event?

Yup, go the same from Cobra, and with the HZRDUS shaft the expected delivery was late April. Local club fitter ended up getting me a hand crafted shaft with the pro head to save the day.

They probably won't ship without the headcover because then potential buyers might ask for a discount, since it's not the full package. Just a guess.

 

I may be the only one, but from the pictures I actually like the headcover. I heard there is a zipper though, WTF? Zipper + ultra high tech OMG LOOK AT THAT CG mixed with T1 billion titanium face = Disaster?

~3 weeks ago. Again really weird because it came with a headcover when the customer service person said they didn't have any so it hadn't shipped. Oh well, hopefully get out Sunday with it in balmy 45* heat.

The G LS is so good isn't it. Loving mine especially with the Agera which is a low spin shaft. Like peanut butter and jelly.

I've never been a really good driver of the ball, recently getting better though. I have a tough time figuring out dispersion, good swings are in the fairway or a couple yards in the rough and bad swings are bad, no driver has seemed to fix that. Will update the thread shortly, I'm going to the course that usually plays soft so if the Ltd is longer there it will be another 10 longer at my other course. Huge 100 year old trees and a couple lines where I like to take it over trees and draw it back so really curious to see if the ltd can get up to ~100 feet high. Starting the cobra off at 11.5, g30 is set on the big + setting so 11.7 and the G coming will be digital loft of 11.

what is your big miss? I didn't like the G30 since I had to loft it up and then I hit a bigger draw. I wish they made a 12 degree non draw biased club! lol
