Yes, but these are Apex MB replacements. They haven't replaced those in a while.

What quickfire said, apex mb has been out for almost 2 years. So this fits in the 2year iron life cycle they are doing

It's one of those things where Greg is given so much access out there by all the companies that if he is asked every once and a while not to photograph something, he agrees out of respect.

Callaway should run with the idea of a raw MB iron. At least make it an option. Seriously, a MB is only going to sell so many units anyway. Might as well offer something no one else is trying. And please don't make it satin black with the option of removing the finish. That's just a pain, even though I've done it with a ton of wedges.

Adams MB2 irons were raw and rusted. Loved the look of those things but wish the feel was a bit better. Traded them in for BStone J40s. Wishing I would've hung on to my MB2s just because you won't be seeing anything like them from Adams again seeing as TMag is calling the shots now.

Don't mind raw but LOVE the satin black finish! At least satin black is easy to strip back to raw, much more so than satin chrome ?

I actually say yes. I believe the design of the Protos/RAZR MBs were phenomenal in terms of allowing blade look at address, workability, and feel, but also provided very reasonable forgiveness. I never hit the Apex MB but have read they are good as well. Hitting my Razr MBs next to true blades like MP33s and titleist MBs, there was a difference in overall forgiveness.

 

I have a bunch of shop cred and want to determine if I should hold off to see the design in these, even the back lol, or blowing it on a bag and some FJ icon my joys.

Groove design, toe shape, top line from what I noticed, perhaps sole grind but I didn't pay attention to that.

 

From what I gathered the different heads were just ground differently to suit a specific players requests from the original forged blank.

 

You had to really have a good eye for it if you were just looking at the players clubs in their bags.

 

When you get to look at some in the address position then you could tell, there were some identifications on the hosel to distinguish the heads but I can't remember specifics.

I must also point out that sometimes a player will take a liking to an early prototype or sample that never makes it to production so they just keep the set they were given to trial (as long as it conforms) for as long as they want.

 

Bubba Watson also has his Ping irons ground very differently to suit his eye and style of play, it isn't that uncommon on tour to see this happen.

Would these be possible replacements for the Apex CF16 or the Apex Pro? They look more like the Pro model shape to me at least the shape of the long iron.

 

Please Callaway, when you replace the CF16 - go with a taper tip hosel.

You can kind of see that there's a progressive muscle in the back from the toe picks. The toe shows a slight bulge where the muscle is - higher in the higher lofted iron, lower in the long iron.

Oh please, please, please be real muscle-back blades on the back--with a big fat muscle extending high up the back like a Titleist 680! They look lovely from the front. Nice wear spot on that 8 or 9 iron! Gore can strike it!
