That drop is ridiculous, soured the event for me.

learn the rules of golf

didn't he take 2 clubs when he was only to take 1?

he only took one club length.

You take one club length over and over until you're where you need to be

They moved over until the line of sight was established then he dropped within one club of that.

One possible change to the rule would be to change the wording to "nearest point of relief in grass the same height of cut as the original position." If no point of relief is available meeting that criterion as well as not being closer to the hole, the true nearest point of relief would be used. I'd like that rule changed, but we can't blame DJ for it.

Absolutely no reason to change it.

You don't think it would on the whole help maintain the integrity of the competition more than the current rule?

Lol at Zinger talking about how DJ has scar tissue. I'm like DJ doesn't even think long enough to have scar tissue

If DJ had someone like Stevie Williams as his caddy, he'd have like 6 majors by now.

I couldn't agree more. I said yesterday, if he had a caddie that could keep him engaged, he wouldn't have so many senseless disaster holes. He tends to lose focus from time to time throughout a round.

So you want them measuring grass before the player takes a drop?

Not exactly the same height, but the same cut. If you are in fairway you drop in the fairway, if you're in the 1st cut you drop in the 1st cut. If you're in the rough you drop in the rough.

They don't have TV towers on my course.

You need to get some. They come in quite handy apparently.

i am not pulling for DJ but i dont get the ignorance of the ruling... of course you get to move away from a TV tower...holy crap that isnt part of the course...if it were your player you would be fine with it...stop whining.... hate DJ ? cool.. but dont make things up

Yes you get to move away from the tower, but when you then hit your shot directly over the top of the tower, did you actually move away from it? How can you take relief to get away from an immovable obstruction but then still hit directly over the top of it as your intended line?

I also don't love the fact he went from a completely buried lie to a teed up lie.

Relief is all fine and well. But I really don't see how it's considered relief if you still just hit over the top of what you're supposedly taking relief from.

Yes... All we can say now is that it was a great break.

DJs tournament to lose now... The question is, where/when does that happen?

Pulling for Day doing his best Tiger impression.

I commend the guy for looking out for family but he needs a caddy that can slap him upside the head when he starts making bonehead decisions

I know it's been said but it's just such a pleasure to watch this year's broadcast. After last year's debacle (both the course and the broadcast) it's great to see a fine tournament at a spectacular course with a terrific broadcast. Except joe Buck.

Terrible rule but not DJ's fault.

Maybe they should have them play as it lies and if he hits the tower then it is a replay?

True, but he did finish with 4 straight birdies at the '02 PGA to scare the heck out of Rich Beem. Day needs something similar to have any chance.

This seems like a really good suggestion. I like this idea.
