Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

The Performance+ is the 3pc ball. The shredding cover balls was the 2nd version of the 4pc that Costco recalled.

Courses & ranges are having issues getting replacement range balls... They're not high on the golf ball companies manufacturing priority lists right now...I'm willing to bet someone's light turned on and bought a pallet of these 3pc and/or connected with a used golf ball company labeled them "Practice" to solve their issue...

Thanks...interesting that this would be the ball that was used for the range.  Didn't these eventually sell out, or were we just led to believe they sold out?

Fairly certain this is the same model that's still available online and in stores.

It's the three piece ball but you can't tell if it's the v2.0 or not just by looking at it.  The side stamp is the same as on the previous version.  There are some older posts that show the different versions cut open.

I don’t know how much a range ball costs but these Kirkland signature were in large supply and they are only one dollar per ball. If range balls are in short supply then this would definitely be a good alternative option.

I went to my local Costco today and saw a pallet of balls right up at the entrance and I got excited thinking they were the new four piece but it was just a new pallet of the 3.2. They had the pallet upfront as well as a pallet in the back where they normally keep them.

There are a couple of sellers on ebay selling the practice balls in lots of 48.  Bulk discounts as well.

Not sure that is correct regarding the side stamp.  Each has a distinctive marking as per the USA Conforming Ball list.  Here's what they show for 3pc balls...

The same markings were used on both versions.  It's unusual but was it discussed quite extensively in this thread when the v2.0 came out and for several months following the release.

Can't believe this thread is 583 pages in, and this is the first time I am seeing it. I just bought 4 more dozen of the three piece balls last time i went to costco. I think they are great especially for the $. I feel like they are pretty durable for what they are. I buy this ball exclusively, but I will play anything I find. I probably like the z-star more since it was the last ball I played before this, but the K-SIG is a great alternative. A buck a ball is well worth it especially when you lose then like i do.

It's been said before but I'll say it again - I sure wish they came in yellow.

I play QStar Tour yellow in the winter or once the zoysia goes dormant and Kirkland the rest of the year.

I find them to be very similar other than the Kirkland seems to spin a little bit more around the green.

This is my single biggest question around the Kirkland balls, outside of if and when a new 4 piece will hit the shelves.   Why do they have the same stamp?  I didn't think it was even allowed to have different balls with the same stamp.

Interesting. ProV1 and ProV1x don't change stamps when they go from a 2019 to 2021 version of the ball, do they? Even though they can change construction and characteristics?

Yes, they change the side stamp every single release (once every 2 years). Have you never noticed how the arrows are different on random ProV1s you find?

As best as I can tell, there has never been an official explanation.

Nah. I played Kirkland until I switched to Snell. Never looked that closely at the ProV1 arrows.

I toss ProV1's I find to my buddy who plays them.

Which is maybe why I thought it was required to have a different stamp on each "different" ball per USGA.  But maybe that was just a bad assumption on my part.  But we only see one ball with that stamp on the conforming list.  Can a new version inherit a stamp, or was the V2 never put on the conforming list, technically making it an illegal ball?  I'd really like to understand all this.

I have both balls and I'm almost wondering if a change in font or even making the font on the side stamp a little bolder would count as a change. They do look different in that regard.

Looking back, variations in the font were observed way before the v2.0 was officially released.

Never said you or anyone couldn't care, just said I wasn't sure why anyone would care...Seems silly to me, but that's just me...

Because if this is technically a non-conforming ball it would be illegal to use in competition or any round you post for handicap.  I'd kind of like to know if that's the case.

I'm pretty sure that it's considered conforming as long as it appears on the conforming list.  Still, I don't think it's odd for people to wonder why "different" versions would have the same markings.  This is a thread about the KSig balls after all.  If you go back to when the v2.0 boxes started appearing, you'll find pages and pages of discussion questioning and speculating why the markings did not change.

Yes, but there is only one ball with this stamp on the list right? And two "different" balls with that stamp.  Does that make both conforming?  Or, as is quite likely, am I missing something?
