it's like Montana starting for the Chiefs all over again.

haha

I am a huge 49er fan... recent news excluded... and hated seeing Joe leave and not just retiring.

no doubt there will be flashes of brilliance but the old Tiger is gone and now it's just.. well.. old (hurt) Tiger.

Pretty tough to overcome the chip yips.

With the putting yips, you can change your grip, or try anchoring on the left forearm. But the chip yips....?

Unseen, in the background, Fate was quietly slipping the lead into the boxing-glove.  P.G. Wodehouse

If Tiger adds a bursa sac problem to his current ones, that would be scary.

I just think it sucks that he's taking a spot in the field away from someone who could really use that, and might actually make it to the weekend.

But it was okay for nicklaus, palmer, player, norman, watson etc etc to show up week after week and miss or barely make cuts? Jesus christ man. Its not like he was in a terrible car crash and had to relearn the english language.

He knows his own health, but he's pushed it before and really hope he isn't pushing it again. Was really hoping not to see him until 2017.

+1

I just texted this exact thought to a buddy of mine as he is a Tiger fan too. If he has stayed out this long, take another 4 months and make absolutely sure you are healthy and tee it up at the Farmers in January 2017.

This is the 2016-2017 season.

Not yet, but still thought pretty clear what was meant by 2017.

Ya earn what ya earn and he has earned the right to be there. Much better than the myriad of John Daly sponsor exemptions Tiger has earned his spot. And unlike JD I don't believe Tiger would use a lot of these. He will either be healthy and play well or not play at all. The guy whose "spot" he is taking has not earned a spot or he would be playing.

You forgot option 3; play like crap and pull the "injury" withdrawal.

Are you talking about Daly? The king of getting a sponsor exemption and then wd'ing? If Tiger does the injury withdrawal I do not believe we will see it often. Would be a one and done.

Do you really care about this person who needs TW to not take the exemption he earned?

No

I think the golf channel and the Tour will get over that when attendance and viewership triples for the .... SAFEWAY OPEN.

I've driven in gridlock and seen how noone can ignore a wreck at the side of the road. Nobody stays tuned in when he's 8 strokes back and pulling the chute.

Considering his exploits with the "professionals" he became familiar with in a biblical way, he's lucky not to have bursa sac.

From what I recall Montana played pretty well for the Chiefs. Guess we should expect a couple of wins including a major.

don't recall Montana winning the super bowl....

Tiger doesn't have a supporting cast... literally and figuratively.

yet, if you read the rest of the posts you will see that I said there will be some flashes of brilliance but people turn a blind eye to that stuff and just pick apart what they want

He will win again if he can maintain his health. You guys forget that winners are winners. They find a way to win. Tiger is a winner. Simple as that.

I am not a Tiger fan, but I hope he wins one of his first events just so some of you guys' heads will explode.

For the sake of the game, it would be beneficial to see him compete at his highest level. The issue isn't just his physical health but also the mental side. Respectfully, there probably aren't many guys who "fear" him as once was the case, he no longer has that advantage. Add to that the little struggles with his short game and I'm not sure you can attribute those to physical issues but mental ones.

The best part of this is regardless of what happens, 50% of the board will be right, 50% will be wrong and 100% will continue to share their thoughts.

We've already seen it often from Tiger. I think he's up to something like 9-10.

8 wd as a pro. 2 in one year was the most. Don't think this qualifies as often. ymmv. He missed 15 cuts as a pro plus 8 wd's. Jason Day is already at 35 and 5, Fowler has missed 39 cuts, Spieth has only missed one less cut than Tiger in their careers. Even including amateur starts Tiger has finished over 90% of his events started. Know of any other current player that can say the same? Spieth is at 83.33%. DJ has as many wd's as a pro as Tiger.
