2017 Phoenix area course conditions

Played the Founders at Verrado; greens were still showing aeration marks. Apart from that course was maintained nicely

Do any/some/most of the courses there offer a discounted replay rate?

 

And if so, coming down the middle of next month, is 36 doable if you have one of the first times?

Aguila is free replay/cart fee if you ride. I think most places offer a discount, not sure about the snottsdale tracks though

I had no problem playing 36 last week about 5 times

Thanks. Guess I’m going to have to get my mind wrapped around those fees, I know that’s how it is this time of year. But you still have me sticker shock!

Me too, just insane what they charge. I love playing there in the summer, not even on the radar during the winter. I have no problem paying for what a courses is worth. Grayhawk is nice course, but it's defiantly not worth it in my opinion, not even close.

 

The rates are going to get even higher throughout the valley during the Waste Management Open.

Thats why I get White Tee card for Grayhawk its 499 you get four free rounds with it 40-70 off rack rates me and wife were 88 apiece last week and then 49 to play second round.

Didn't renew this year because not sure if Ill make it back out there in 2018

Thanks, I'll look at it. I know for certain I want Southern Dunes, and pretty certain about Wickenburg Ranch. Trying to fill around those two with some reasonably priced options.

Southern Dunes: Great shape, greens slower than I would like, but still good.

TPC Champions: Excellent shape tee to green; dormant rough which is still tough to get out of

Phx Country Club: pretty much perfect, greens a 12

McDowell Mtn: Good shape, bunker need some attention; some patchy spots where water collects; greens very good

Talking Stick North: very wet, bunkers in average shape, greens were slow; it was overall in average shape

Aguila: conditions still good (outside of the bunker issues). Greens were a little beat up but putted well and were pretty quick. 4 hour round starting mid morning. Can't beat $25 to walk.

I read that the new ownership is working to fix up Club West and they recently reopened. I enjoyed this course many years ago. Anybody have an update?

I heard it was the Gila River Indian Community that bought it. I wonder if they will buy Foothills as well?

This is helpful as I am relatively new to the Phoenix area. I played 9 holes at GCU a few weeks ago and it was in decent condition, but some of the greens were beat up.

 

Played the raven as well at a decent discount via golfnow, it was in fine condition (again some beat up greens from people not fixing divots), but it was so god awful slow. On one par 5 I swear there were 15 people attempting to play the hole.

 

Not to sidetrack this thread but I’m looking to find a regular group to play with. Is there a thread already for this, if not would it be best posted in this section or elsewhere on the site?
