Just throwing my 2 cents in here. I bought an Acculock Ace arm lock about 4 months ago. Never putted better in my life since I started using it. Took about 4 rounds or so to get comfortable. Just threw a 17 inch JumboMax Jumboflat with the flat side part locked to my arm. People seem to love that grip for this method. Tomorrow will be my first time with the new grip. And I have to say, I agree with others... starting the ball on line and with a true roll has never been easier. Just have to get the read right....

Just recently bought this Odyssey Backstryke off ebay, extended to 41", filled shaft half full of sand trap sand for some weight, long grip and it's going to be a good one...did heat the shaft and bent it a tad to get setup/loft right. This is a toe up balanced putter versus face balanced or toe hang type....I still like side saddle but to be truthful, arm lock is better for me, actually very good for me

I have been intrigued by arm lock putting for a while but have no shops by me in Northern Michigan. I finally pulled the trigger on a Scotty Cameron x5 Dual Balance 36" I found on eBay and it was pretty cheap! My plan is to putt cross handed (I always have) with the shaft still running up my left arm, I have messed around with this feel with my standard putter (34" and 68* lie are my standard putter specs) and it feels really solid. I know I may need to lengthen the putter, but I play the ball more forward in my stance so I think the loft will be ok. My question is I have been fit for a putter a few times and I have always been 68* lie angle, in your guys experience how does the lie angle change when people convert to arm lock putting?

The lie angle becomes significantly more upright. I understand your frustration with trying to find an armlock putter to try, not very easy. I can tell you through lots of trial and error myself that arm lock putters are very finicky to fitting, more so than a regular fit putter. A poorly fit putter is a recipe for disaster. A properly fit arm lock is magical, IMO. I ended up going 40 1/2”, Stability shaft, 71 lie, 7 loft, Superstroke 1.7 flat side against arm.

Imo, if that lie is your fit, you should be fine. If you extend it, just try to use the same setup. I've bought a couple and made a couple and it is interesting to try one that because of the lie, Makes you change your setup. Does not hurt to experiment, more upright gives me a little more freedom of stroke, flatter, the stroke is more contained.

The lie is dependent on where your elbows are. More bent arm is regular to flat lie angle. The more the elbow straightens out the more upright you need to go.

Thanks guys the putter will be here on Monday! I am sure I will have more questions as I go down this road. I am a pretty good putter, I average around 30 putts around but have always felt my hands could get a little active on short putts under pressure and on left to right putts. I am hoping this helps me become better and its a good time to tinker.

I have found with armlock, that for me, a righty, I have to play a tad more break on left to right putts...it seems there is an intuitive move with the hands in regular putting to slightly 'pull' the putt up the hill and with armlock, you cannot do that, it goes where you point, just anecdotal and I can't prove it.

I just started arm lock putting. I bought two to try on eBay. Is Sik the best manufacturer in everyone's opinion? Is it worth it to sell both and get fitted?

I believe that fitting is far more important with an armlock that what putter is used. Armlocks are far more sensitive to lie, loft, length fitting.

I found a Kuchar Arm Lock that was cut down in a used bin. The amount of forward press you have to do with your hands is just unnatural and uncomfortable. The other thing is on proper arm lock putters if you bend it to normal specs the sole interaction on the ground will be thrown out of whack.

I'm thinking of moving to an armlock putter. I play off 5 handicap up from 3 18 months ago. Since I had back surgery I struggle to practice putting without my back stiffening up. I putt with a forward press with a conventional putter and feel I'd be able to stand more upright with an armlock. For those who have made the switch is it easier to stand more upright with an armlock?

I haven’t found one, since armlocks are still relatively obscure. Here’s what I did. I took a “regular” putter and got into my stance (the heel was off the ground because of the more upright lie angle). I then held a yard stick in my grip and extended it until the end was about 1/2” below the crease of my elbow. The measurement from the end of the yard stick to the butt of the putter, added to the known length of the regular putter should get you pretty close. It’s not scientific by any means but there aren’t a lot of fitting options out there.

Here’s my Toulon Las Vegas that I converted into an arm lock. Extended the shaft, 17” grip with the flat part against my arm, and added 20 grams to take the head to take it to 390g. Plays at 41”. Did not need to do any loft adjustments because I putt with my lead arm pretty close to my body, and the shaft doesn’t lean very far forward as a result. This has been my gamer for the last 6 months and I’ve never gone that long without switch putters out before.

That's good to know. The last thing I need is another putter especially since I have been putting really well with mine. However, I do love that head shape...
