Yes....i think he often over exaggerates and this is coming from a huge Tiger fan perspective. I think he hit a crappy shot and acted like the back caused it. He had no problem unleashing the driver a few holes later when he violently smashed it and had a quick recoil.

I hate to see this happen. I had such high hopes for him winning again soon. As good as anybody I've ever seen putting & making shots when he had to pull it off. Unbelievable.

He never should have made the trip. I've got a bad back and traveling always makes me stiff for at least a few days. A flight that long, even in first class, would surely knot him up. Stupid.

Idk why we always have to draw a line in the sand and judge the content of a post on the basis of whether we suspect its poster to be a Tiger 'fanboy' or Tiger 'hater'. I don't find it implausible that this back spasm narrative could be fabricated as a way to extricate himself from the tournament before he fired something as bad or even worse than he did Thursday. Guys do it all the time, but it usually doesn't even warrant a single post on here unless it was a well known player who did it. Of course with Tiger's long history of back issues it's also entirely possible that this all went down the way it was reported. We're talking about TW here though, can you imagine how embarrassing it must be for a player of his undeniable ability and god-like status to doubt his swing and his ability to shoot under par rounds? Why on earth would he have wanted to go out there in those second round conditions and fight his swing for 18 holes needing to go DEEP just to make the cut? I actually hope this is the case and he can find some sort of form going forward to get back in the mix out there. However, IMO it's rediculous to assert that he was out there playing through back spasms in that first round. Maybe some soreness or tightness, but no way something severe when his reactions didn't even come close to the signs of pain he was exibiting at Torrey in 08.

I've had spasms in my left elbow and forearm for the last 2 days. It's because I have a nerve impingement in my neck.

 

Tiger's back spasms are a terrible sign for someone who has had multiple back surgeries in the last couple of years. It is evidence that his back is still not healthy.
