I've played this course twice in the last two years and both times I've played it, I would rate the entire course 8/10. It's just a fun course. However, a friend of mine went for the first time and was pretty excited. Until he actually started playing course. When it was done he sent me a very profound expletive text about the greens. I've went ahead and attached that picture. How in the world can a course like Tour 18 let their greens get like this? I was amazed they even let people play on them. Greens like this should make the course shut down until they are at least playable IMO. does anyone know what's up with the course?

Hell, they can't even come up with their own design for a course. Maybe they should hire a superintendent from one of those courses they copied. Maybe one of them knows how to grow grass.

Told me today they charged him $28 at 2pm.

 

Tour 18 is about 90 mins from where we are from, so when I said I would have just quit after the first hole got my money back and went somewhere else, he said he didn't want to waste the drive that he made. Sorta understandable, but damn, you can't even classify that as a green.

Try to have him upload those pics to Golfadvisor.com and write a review. I try to check there first on local courses since they can be hit or miss.

And those green conditions are after 6 months of generally terrific, green friendly weather.

Was every green like that or just a few? Only good part about that course that i remember is they don't a liquor license so you can bring your own booze.

Awful! They've lost the greens and they're unplayable! 18 of 18 greens are completely without grass. They failed to mention that when I booked a tee time and it must have slipped their mind again when I paid my greens fee. Shady...I won't be back for a long time, if ever.

They're owned by 2 different entities...The one in Houston has been in good shape since the new ownership took over...

I played last summer and while not great, it wasn't bad especially cause we had a discount too, felt like something similar to Sherrill Park quality, maybe a bit better. This is just sad as one of my friends in Houston plays that one regularly and I had got me itching to go play the DFW one again this year. Wonder if Houston ownership would buy the Dallas one?

I played the one in Houston in April and the greens and overall conditioning was quite good. Some of the other parts of the property are aging and a little sad but the course itself was fine. Surprised the one in Dallas is so bad because, while I haven't been there in 15-20 years, I remember the neighborhood going into the property much nicer than what surrounds the one in Houston.

Those greens will not grow back...They're going to need to replace all 18 holes...I hate when courses give up and still try to make money...

We played there for years, first off the box on Sunday AM (back when they had the lighthouse on number 7 some court ruling made them take it down), until they dug a new well, didn't test anything and ended up spraying salt water over the entire course killing most of it.

 

The owners are just cheap (some daughter runs it) and don't take care of it since killed it and had to redo it.

 

The layout is awesome, just a ton of fun. They usually fix it by fall, but don't do much preventative. If you catch it in good shape, or the winter on dormant greens (really fast and smooth after they roll them) it's a must play, but chances are fewer and farther between for past few years.

I don't play great courses so while the greens were a bummer, we just took two putts if they were unplayable and had a good time. For the price we paid on Memorial Day, we wouldn't have been able to play anywhere better.

It's a terrible golf course. No flow. Gimmicky. Not since it's heyday in the 1990s has it ever been decent

 

Greens are tricked up when there is grass. Someone needs to blow that place up and start over And just make a golf course.

Played it last weekend and have to concur. Two temp greens and a slight discount didn't make up for the poor conditions of all the greens. The only consistency was how bad they were. No practice green, just a plot of soil. Just as bad is the clubhouse operation from a food and beverage perspective. No coolers on carts, few water jugs, and fewer beverage cart opportunities led to our whole group feeling miserable by the end. Drinking hot water wasn't enough to stave off heat exhaustion. It was my second visit in the last five years and nothing had improved. Scratched off my list permanently.

Bingo. That's a hot area for development now and I bet there is a reason they're letting it go.

Yeah, but they already built a neighborhood around the course. Guess they figure there are enough suckers in DFW who don't know any better.
