This is a hilarious thread. Most of these ugly swings are from some of the best ball strikers on earth. Proves that there is no ugly swing. As long as it's yours and it works . But the teachers of the world are not going to let that be told as truth.

And I chuckled at the mention of Spieth. Wow. His has to be the prettiest of all the ugly swings. The hate for that guy is so strong. He's doing alot right to garner than much hate.

I think unique swings were the rule back in the day, before the advent of the "swing guru"... whereas today they are the exception. Guys did what worked for them after thousands of hours experimenting and became repeatable under pressure, as opposed to what Butch or Lead showed them on video last week.

I wouldn't consider Spieth's action to be unconventional at all compared to the likes of Furyk, who is my vote for "most unconventional swing on tour with the most results" seeing as he's actively playing and managed to haul in a U.S. Open, FedEx Cup, and PotY with a motion once described as an "octopus falling out of a tree".

Surprised Ryan Moore hasn't been mentioned yet. US Am/US Am Publinx/NCAA individual titles in 2004 as well as 5 PGA Tour wins and top-10's in 3/4 majors. Not exactly A-lister chops but a solid resume since making it rain in college, and easily one of the most unconventional actions on tour today.

Spieth, easily. ...

What?? The REASON Spieth does not win nowadays is his unstable swing. Everything else is world class, and the closer to hole the better.

It's the ugliest motion in Golf since Eamonn Darcy quit. But his swing has been the most stable on tour. He has issues down the stretch, not a barbed wire eater like Tiger and again, Spieth. He gets nervous. But since he turned up on tour he has not had a swing form dip. Year in, year out he is in the fairway.

Jon rahm's swing is pretty damn short.

Just a guess, but his short Swing is probably some of the reason for his consistent ball striking. I think it's a thing of beauty really, looks extremely repeatable on full shots. Less backswing = less potentional for variation on the downswing and point of impact.

I have not paid close enough attention to how he performs on his 3/4 or 1/2 shots... probably requires a lot of feel in his game, or possibly slowing down his swing speed

I love his swing... but its unique. I have actually been working on shortening mine with his swing in mind. Seems to be working especially consistency wise.

Allen Doyle. Didn't turn pro until he was 46 but won three tournaments his first year. Also a 4 time major champion on the Champions Tour.

Yes...Allen Doyle. Very unconventional swing. Remember how short his back swing was? I think they said he grooved his swing in his basement in GA and that is why it was so short???

Probably just me but I just can't watch Chesson Hadley's action. Drives me crazy. But hey he's got a Tour win although back on Web.com at the moment.

I'd tend to agree. Just pointing out the title and that the OP wasn't making a judgement on the beauty of pros swings.

Thats pretty cool you are shortening your backswing. How is it on partial shots?

Absolutely! Met him at Pine Mountain where he plays @ Callaway gardens. He signed a scorecard for me not too long after going back to back. Bubba for sure...but unconventional defined with Furyk.

Strictly unconventional? I'd say Phil Mickelson. How many righties play left handed?

+1 for Furyk. A 58 and a 59? No one gets results like Jimmy.

Zach Johnson is impossible for me to watch.

Literally, I cannot watch that move.

I once accidently saw his swing on a TV on the other side of a restaurant

and quit the game for 2 years. Every time I thought of golf, I remembered

what I saw and puked in my mouth and then went fishing.

Yep, also the opposite is true.

I guess I've only heard of Mickelson. Who are others? Only ones who came up Curtis Strange and Greg Norman as lefties who play righty

One time I had the PGA Tour on TV, but was just kind of half-watching, half-relaxing, half reading Golfwrx Tour Talk. Anyway, so at one point I was kind of looking at the TV but not really paying attention much, then I see a swing and am like: "whoa, WTF was that!?" So I rewind and look and it was Kevin Chappell (sp?).

Will Wilcox (not widely-known lower-level PGA Tour player, standout junior golfer, Hole-in-one man on 17 at sawgrass I think last year).

Those guys are pro golfers so I'm not gonna say they don't have good results. But to perhaps better answer the thread, I'd have to agree with earlier posters who said John Rahm and Bubba. If I saw Bubba's swing at a local driving range (and didn't see where his ball went) I'd probably not think the person was Tour caliber.

do NOT show non-golfers this swing if you're trying to convince them this is a sport

I think Trevino's swing, while unconventional, is a great one.

Anyone who's ever stood next to him hitting balls would agree.

Best ball striker since BH in many eyes (those who would know).
