sorry you lose Bishop. I will take who is Angel Yin for $1000. :)

Actually you both lose, I take long and wild Joanna Klatten, who is #1 in distance and #148 in driving accuracy. But it doesn't matter in long driving, she only has to get one ball in. And she is French.

I am aware of the averages. Based on what I saw at the Solheim Cup Yin has a gear she rarely uses. Does Klatten?

Starting next year, the USGA is moving the Women's US Open ahead of the Men's. It will be May 31st to June 3rd. The Women's PGA is June 26th to July 1st. The Women's British is August 2nd to the 5th. Too late for 2018, but if the 2019 schedule is similar they could move the Women's Scottish to the week after the British and they could have the Evian the week after the Scottish for a nice three week European swing.

One problem with that, however, is the 2019 Solheim is scheduled to be after Evian in September.

The Evian is co-sanctioned....LET and the LGU (Ladies Golf Union) also are fools like Whan too.

when you have a commissioner who is not strong enough to stand up to sponsors due to fear of losing his job you get this..

a fifth "major" was a bad idea from the start..

You didn't consider it a major to begin with. So I'd say your opinion doesn't carry a lot weight as to whether people will reduce its stature based on reducing the event to 54 holes.

Personally, I think Michael Whan has done an amazing job with the LPGA Tour.

Personally, I think Michael Whan has done an amazing job with the LPGA Tour.

I think there are a couple ways of looking at it, in terms of Whan's overall job performance

1)The marketing and growing the tour with sponsors and events. I think he's done an incredible job with this aspect of things.

2) The product that's consumed by the fans, this is where IMO I feel he's done an average job at best. The TV deal with the Golf Channel sucks and is a joke. I understand there were circumstances when he took over that he basically had to take the only deal on the table, so this aspect I'll hold him to account more when the new contract is negotiated if things don't change. Also the course setup is way to easy IMO, the KIA event for me being an outlier. And generally some decisions in the direct tournament play have been strange.

SO for me his weakness is in the tour events themselves when they are being played, I guess a debate can be had whether that's on him or his subordinates.

I see SYP and SYR decided to switch spots on whose gonna win the tournament and who's not gonna make the cut

Sung Hyun Park goes from the bottom of the field to currently at the top - like the song says

Brought the sun and the flowers, where there used to be rain"

This decision is driven by the Evian people. Whan/LPGA basically is taking one for the team.

You can argue that Whan should have stood up to Evian. But unfortunately, women's golf is not in a position to say no to a major sponsor.

I'm not sure why people are so upset with the decision..

I think it's great idea to do this. The weather on Thursday was horrible and unplayable.. They would have had to push back at least 1day, maybe 2 days, depending on the rest of the week.. This way everyone has fresh start..

I'm not complaining, but spandex (Korda) quite doesn't seem to belong on the golf course.

I was trying to figure out what happened...

I jumped on LPGA site briefly yesterday morning and saw her 4-9-3-4-6 start that had her +6, then never really looked at anything the rest of the day, then was on early this morning and she is leading with a 63.

What a crazy decision to scrap the scores a restart. Can you imagine if the R&A got half way through the first day and thought, hang on a second, it's a but windy for the lads out there wasn't it. Let's just start again and see what happens from there. Madness!

I'm rather surprised that there are so many scores over par. With soft conditions, I thought they'd be eating the course up. Sung Hyun's 63 shows that it is possible to go really low.

Amen. I almost wondered if that was the intent behind cancelling the first round.

Or maybe it was simply the fact that the course and conditions were unplayable, and in the spirit of fairness they decided on a do-over. It wasn't the first time this has happened on the LPGA, or PGA for that matter.

I'm not saying that it hasn't happened but I can't recall in my life time when during a men's major the organiser has decided that because the weather was bad and the scores were poor that it made sense to start over and cut the tournament down to 54 holes.

If you deal with one of your 'majors' like that then I am sorry, you are making yourself look bad.

They played the hand that was dealt to them. What's the alternative? A Monday finish? The LET/LPGA doesn't have deep pockets, and I imagine trying to get the hundreds of volunteers to return on a Monday would be difficult. Try to cram four full rounds into 3 days? Very difficult, especially with more rain, and possibly more delays, in the forecast. Keep the scores from the unplayable conditions? Not particularly fair, and beside, only a handful of players had made it on to the course. They'd still have a lot of golf to cram into 3 days.

Yeah, it sucks. They got unlucky with the weather, but I don't see how it being a major changes the decision making process.

That it's a major should change the decision making process. It's one of the five biggest tournaments of the year. If the LPGA and the LET don't give their majors as much priority as they should then why should the members of the golfing public?

Plus, it's golf - a game played outside. If an organisation or organisations as the case is here are going in to an event not at least thinking weather could play a part or cause delays then, they are sleeping at the wheel. There should be continuity plans in place.

Harsh but fair criticism IMO. If one is going to take on the mantle and prestige of "major championship", they should be willing to take on additional burden. Doubt that the USGA ever wants to finish tournaments on Mondays, but on the other hand I doubt they would ever even entertain the notion, because their commitment to their championships is--I am guessing--unshakeable (aside from like, World Wars and stuff). That same sort of commitment over many decades is how tournaments became "major" in the first place, it could be argued.

So what's the plan when the first round is a complete washout? A Monday finish? You really think every volunteer is going to show up? Your plan would be to pay several hundred workers to be available on Monday in case it's needed, even though it has never happened in the history of the majors?

The ultimate goal must be to give themselves the best chance by sunday to complete 72 and they will say they put a lot of thought into the decision to go 54 holes but lets see how the weather goes over the weekend. I would have liked to see them get through saturday after 36 holes and see then how the weather looked saturday night and have a plan for sunday with options. Why not instead of the normal 65 or so for the cut they could have made it 44 or so and played 36 holes sunday but still pay the girls 44-65 place finish no different to the PGA tour who operate the modified cut.

Yes. You've scheduled a major for a course with a history of unpredictable and severe weather. Plan accordingly. Majors should be 72 holes without exception.

So what's the plan when the first round is a complete washout? A Monday finish? You really think every volunteer is going to show up? Your plan would be to pay several hundred workers to be available on Monday in case it's needed, even though it has never happened in the history of the majors?

The Open, St Andrews 2015.

You're seriously comparing the resources of the R&A with the LET/LPGA?

You said the history of the majors...
