'Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year.

Tough to pick a winner for this one. In Gee is playing great. Lexi is playing great. Sung Hyun is playing great. Lydia is warming up at just the right time. So Yeon is eager to add another major. Heck, In Kyung could be a factor.

Lol. My predictions lately have been the death knell for the players, so I'm just going to keep my mouth shut on this one.

If you're recording the broadcasts, double check your DVR settings. The split times on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday may confuse the device. Also note that the final segment is on NBC. I'm sure we'll be blessed with Annika in the booth. :swoon2:

And I can't seem to come up with a key word search that picks up the NBC portion. You'd think either "Evian" or "LPGA" would work. That means I have to remember record from listings closer to the broadcast--a challenge for my total lack of short-term memory.

Picking a winner is a head scratcher, not because so many are playing well but because the course requires a pretty specific skill set. Lots of precise shot-shaping, and never mind the greens. Lydia and In Gee have both proven they can do it. If I thought Cristie had another major in her, she'd be a tempting pick.

I knew Lewis wasn't playing, but no In Bee?

Inbee took a tumble at her hotel during the British Open and injured her back. The pain she endured during the flight to the Canadian Open led to her withdrawal from that tournament. It appears that her back is still causing problems, and a long flight from Korea to the Evian is unwise.

Tape-delay on the final round is a bit ridiculous.

A bit?! You are kinder than me. I call it shameful and hypocritical. These people spend the whole year trying to convince us all of how major and how important this tournament is then after all that, they won't even present it live. So in the end just a bunch of empty words.

Looks like I'll be watching this one live on Korean TV and I hope many of my fellow LPGA-lovin' Americans do the same. The Korean networks do not disrespect the sport with any of that tape delay crap!

I'd be curious to know what percentage of viewers watch the broadcasts live vs. time shifted. Personally, I haven't watched a live broadcast in, ummm, can't remember the last time I watched it live, regardless of the start time. It's not just golf. I haven't watched any problem live, other than maybe 5 minutes of the weather segment on the evening news, in ages.

Just wonder if this thread will be locked if the Americans don't perform like the US Open. hehe

Wish I knew your backstory. Every post is an issue or rant or comment about Americans, their bias.... I wish you well, but it sounds toxic

No fan of tape delays, but for those of us who DVR it, at least we know it will end within the allotted time. Even when I extend the DVR time, I sometimes miss the end of the broadcast--Lexi's win on Saturday is a case in point.

We always extend the time the maximum amount, 3 hours.

Agreed, at least for the final round.

Also, if the final round is on one of the networks, e.g. NBC, I always set the DVR to record starting The Golf Channel at the time the broadcast is scheduled to end. You can't trust NBC to not hand off coverage to The Golf Channel if the tournament runs long.

You're a liar. You know there is technology to pull up every single one of posts to prove this is false.

Edit: Just saw you're butthurt because I don't believe Lexi is the best player in tour. What a sad man you are.

I'm butthurt? I don't even believe she is the best on tour nor do I care. I was explaining the announcers' possible reasoning.

I just see a lot of anti-American comments, that is all. I'm not even really pro American. Just wondered what fuels the fire.

I'm absolutely pulling for Inky to do great here. I have no idea how many (as in how few) of the remaining normal tournaments she'll play. So I think her results here could be a big part of the finishing touch on her great season. She was solo 6 last year!

I'm getting kind of concerned for In Gee and Minjee to get wins this season, so I'm cheering for them too. Between her back in 2016 and her tummy in 2017, I wish In Gee could get a good long period of clean health.

I do wonder how long the current big three will be a thing, but it's an interesting battle! For what it's worth, last year here they did:

So Yeon: T2

SHP: T2

Lexi: T22

It's hard to say who of the three is the most improved since then. So Yeon hit #1, SHP made good on the promise she showed, and Lexi improved her one sore spot, putting, to become a juggernaut. It's great stories for all three, a real clash of the titans now. I think arguably, Lexi is the bigger change and the most on the upswing right this moment. But I think more than the other two, her transformation in putting still has the bigger Achilles's heel and possibility of faltering. Well, I can't be unbiased, I'll always be cheering for So Yeon here, and as a fan for her I'm down for the long-term battle, even if Lexi and SHP are very powerful now.

Looking those ranks up made me see last year's leaderboard again, and I just loved the top of it. I know Stacy doesn't like it, but I think I have good feelings about this one, and I'll always love In Gee's win.

Trivia:

Which course holds the records of both the lowest single round (61) and aggregate score (-21) for a major championship , men or women ?

This event comes with a lot of bells and whistles, but the the most important part, the course itself, has always been ignored. The greens are bumpy and the fairways are filled with white chalk. It is below par for even a regular tour stop, let alone a major.

Year after year, Tom Abbott or some announcers would try to apologize, explaining that they have had a "tough winter" (Really ? Again ? It is now September) , or it has been a "learning curve".

Let's hope this year the tournament has finally gotten their act together and present the girls with a true championship caliber course that they deserve.

Edit: Lydia is saying the course this year is in the best shape that she has seen , which may not mean much.

Weather problems again.

Indeed.... was this responsible for SHP's disastrous start - one hole was 5 over par, another was 3 over?

Sky Sports showed some of the surroundings at Evian before cutting to the Dutch Open. Appeared to be a lot of standing water and the rain was continuing to come down heavy but there didn't appear to be any wind.

Didn't see any shots so can't say.

Correction: Since seen more video clips and there was significant wind.

Oy. This tournament is snakebitten. Maybe they should swap it with the KPMG. September weather in the U.S. is generally pleasant.
