Still playing Nike Vapor Combos?

what would y’all pay for a 3-pw knowing you prob wouldn’t use 3 and 4 irons, and having someone else’s initials stamped on them? faces are in good shape but the PVD is pretty torn up. would definitely MMPROTO treat them

I guess it’s hard to really say without pictures, but I wouldn’t pay anything over $200. I’d want to stay in the $150 range max.

Has anyone removed the insert on the cavity of the VPC. I removed the design on my previous set with paint stripper but it seems that it’s real flimsy and dents easily. I was wondering what’s underneath. I can always bring the swing weight up with lead tape.

Probably nothing underneath. It could be just aluminum insert with double-sided tapes.

36 yesterday with the VPC’s... short answer, GAMERS!

These will be in the bag for 2018 for sure. I just like everything about them. The long irons are so good. I’ve hit some 5-6 irons that made me just smirk because they are a joy to hit.

+1. For whatever reason, the 5 iron in this set is very friendly to me as well. I feel very comfortable at 185 with a smooth 5 in the VPC.

There are pictures on the net that can be found via Google...

Removing the badge on the 8-iron down is not an issue since they will end up looking like the Vapor Pro. With the 7-iron up, there is a stepped cavity, and the badge assists at holding in the RZN insert. Many guys have just used sheet tin and re-cut new badges when the old ones get beat up.

Here you go:

not a horrible price if they’re really like new. I bet you could find lefties cheaper though. not huge demand

Surprisingly not a lot of supply for vpc....a few new sets from 500-600 dollars....a used set that looked used and no AW , for 250....so an extra 80 for 8 clubs I'll use and in nice condition! Done deal....SWOOSHLT is BACK!!!!!!

Can anyone do a detailed comparison of the victory red pro combo vs vapor pro combo? Feel , flight, etc,etc......realizing shaft plays a significant role in this

The OG VR Pro Combo was a near perfect set of irons. CB/MB split - pocket cavities in the long irons. Little offset, thin topline.

The VPC is more forgiving, more offset, thicker topline, thicker sole - in between an AP2/i200. It's going to play similar to those.

any idea how the VPC compares to a mizuno mp-53?

dang, a listing just popped up of kbs reg flex, 1/2 long 2 up, bent 2 degrees strong, which sounds PERFECT for me but he wants $700 for them!!!

I had 53’s years ago and then the 54’s for a full year before getting the VPC’s. I absolutely loved that line of iron and pry would have looked hard at the 55’s if ever released in the US.

VPC’s are in the bag. Partly because the I think the new amt shaft fits way better than the dg and the ctapers I had previously. They are VERY similar except I like the sole of the box better. The beveled leading edge is great for me. The iron makeup is similar in the 3-7 irons having a cavity (just no resin fill) and the the 8-P is a pure CB.

I’ll add that for the better part of 7 years, I’d sworn up and down, left and right, that I would never have any other iron besides that specific Mizuno line. My best 18 hole score game with those 53 irons. But I was also golfing 3 times a week and my game was on point more than it’s ever been.

I have VPC’s in the bag and when these are through, I’m pry headed back to Mizuno.

would you estimate forgiveness is about the same between VPC and MP-53?

Again, I’m a better and more consistent player with the VPCs but that could be more related to a better shaft. There’s definitely no less forgiveness in the VPC’s. Hard to say if there is more though but perhaps because to me, the VPC’s are easier to hit in the long irons. I had difficulty hitting the mph 3 iron that was part of the set but I have zero issue gaming the vpc 2 iron. Long irons are among the easiest to elevate and hit that ive ever swung.

Bought a set of Vapor Pros to hit this fall/winter hoping to get ball striking back where I think I should be and I really like them. Found a combo 5i to mix in and might be bagging these for a while. Hope to also pickup a combo set in the near future and see how a tad more offset works.

My curiosity with these is through the roof. Picked up a set a few weeks back and it seems the previous owner attempted to MM Proto them and used sand paper on the badge instead of just wiping it off. I ended up picking up a brand new set of Vapor Pros for $200 and MM Proto'd them myself. Used them today for the first time and man are the lower irons interesting to hit. I ended up removing the one badge on one of the VPC's because it was pretty beat up. How much would it really affect removing the foam behind the badge? Not going to lie, the forgiveness in the lower irons on the VPC's is truly what sets these clubs apart. Any input is appreciated.
