Still playing Nike Vapor Combos?

Im sure you could do it. I played mine with some Steelfibers for a bit until I just re-shafted with some Modus 120's. Id imagine they'd be pretty nice. I wouldn't mind trying some LZ's personally.

I really am debating on swapping the AMT’s out for some Modus. They are just performing with the AMT, so I don’t want to change anything.

I’d prefer something a little smoother.

I actually have both. Not going to lie I prefer the look of the Pro's vs the Combos but the forgiveness is just day and night. For rightful reasons of course. I just wish they would have done the combos without the decorative badges like the pro's, then MMProtoing would have been SOOOOO much easier.

In terms of Modus, I was such a big of fan I picked up another set to put in my Pro's. I will not be going to anything else going forward for sure.

I figured out the issue with the badges...heat and time . It was just too cold in my garage (40-50*) so it had to sit forever. I left one head out in the sun with the orange gel and then over night and the badge wiped clean.

I had left mine on overnight at room temperature and had to keep coming back and reapplying after 3x it finally removed completely. Just would have been much easier just to not have put them on there. IMO. Oh well.

I put the Modus 120S in my Proto VP / VPC set and absolutely love them. Great shaft. I get the best results when I put a steady, smooth swing in it, rather than putting a lot of force. Has done wonders for my tempo and overall approach to iron shots, especially the long irons. No one makes long irons that come close to the VPCs

+1 on all of the above!

I stumbled on the patent drawings for these irons earlier and thought it was pretty cool.

If I had some extra cash I would pick up the limited edition black c taper in them! But will have to stay with the x100 for now

I'm playing the CCI forged irons. Have been looking into the vapor pros too. Love the CCI feel and look, but they are not as forgiving as I would like them to be. Especially since I am getting back into golf.

I played vapor pro combo in my second year of golf, picked up a new set of vapor pros and got two rounds in with them before winter hit, absolutely in love, heavy heads, and I love feedback when I have a bad shot. Makes me focus more on tempo and my swing overall, might pick up a second set

Found some close to mint VPCs but I’ve been leaning toward the new 718 AP2s. I can’t hit the VPCs because I’m ordering them online. Has anyone hit both of these irons and if you have can u tell me how they compare in feel and distance. Thanks

Big difference in price, huh? Also, are you looking at the gorgeous 718 CB? More heel and toe tungsten gives them a higher MOI than the previous 716 AP2. (Fully acknowledge I have never really liked the AP2, so a CB that is more forgiving than the previous generation AP2 is appealing.)

I have hit both, and for me, the VPCs are the better iron. I think the VPC feel better, and the distance is more consistent. I also like the look better.

I had a set of each 4-pw, same shaft. I chose to keep the VPC and sell the AP2.

I sold my VPC irons a few months ago, got the 718 AP2 irons last month. Just ordered a brand new set of VPC irons. The VPC irons are so much better, and the feel is amazing and I missed that.

Right went back to the VPC irons, much happier

Just picked up a set for cheap. The faces on them look decent but the high heel area are dinged up like nothing I've ever seen before. How are everyone's holding up?

Planning on a mixed set of vapor speed (4-7) & pro combo (8-AW). I think I'm going to have the lofts adjusted 1 strong to help with the gaps except for 8 iron which I'm gonna have 1.5 strong. May also re-shaft with graphite & add 1/4 inch to standard length to better blend the sets together. It's kinda a winter side project to have fun with.

Driver: Callaway Rogue STMaxLS 10.5 Degree

5 Wood: Cobra LTDxLS @ 17.5 Degree

Hybrid: Cobra King OS 3-4 Hybrid @ 20.5 Degree

Hybrid: Cobra Aerojet @ 24 Degree

Irons: Taylormade 2021 P790's 5-AW

Wedge: Taylormade MG3 54 Degree

Wedge: Callaway Sureout 2 @ 60 degree

Putter: PXG Closer

I have a set of VPC and have tried the 718 AP2. There is not a lot of difference feel wise but I found the AP2 to be nearly a club shorter distance vs VPC.

Does anyone know why the Maltby playability factor was so low on these heads? They have a rating of 119, the Vapor Pros were 235 ( 716 AP2s were 417 for comparison). I never found them to be unforgiving or hard to hit. Quite the opposite. Does it have to do with the modern muscle design moving the vertical and horizontal cog?

I’ve wondered about this for years now. As much love is out there for the MPF, all I can come up with is that it’s flawed in some way, shape, or form. Because they (VPC’s) are the quintessential perfect iron: easy to hit, great feel, distance, and consistency. So I think the MPF is skewed or flawed, however you want to label it.
